Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I have only seen photographs. But Normandy is a beautiful place in France. It is full of war, history and cider stories. Good visual imagery created. Informative as it is educated. Good flow of rhythm and rhymes. Great poem.

Thank you for this D-day tribute poem. I admired your alternating rhymes, rhythmic quatrains and repeats, along with your exhortation not to forget the price for freedom. I am sorry I do not have the sixth star to bestow. Hope your Sunday is serene- Joan

This poem could go for a song; more like an assembler or reminder.
A lovely touching piece, with great body work in it.
I see all the lines in each stanza has an eight syllable count. Only "I hear the bugles blow" which was only six.

I have ran out of Six my friend, else I would have done justice to this piece

Thank you MagKing. A virtual six is almost as good

solid abab rhyming in your quatrains, and the single refrain line between the quatrains is compelling
I like the alliteration in your refrain line
and in your opening line
machinegun fire - machine gun
Satan stole souls - excellent alliteration and assonance
more good alliteration
I very much like your thoughtful closing message and how you lead up to it with a powerful retelling of what these men did with unspeakable bravery to insure our freedom

The sacrifice of so many to rid the world of Hitler's evil. But that was the war that freed mankind form his dictatorship and a life of servility instead of the democracy that we enjoy. Well done, Tom.

Thank you rod. Yes, and it came very close to Hitler winning.

Hi, Treischel,
"I Hear the Bugles Blow" is an excellent poem with good rhyme, rhyme scheme and refrain. It has excellent figurative language and imagery.(shadows stand where soldiers stood). It has good flow.

The message to us still is: beware. If each adult Jew had taken out one Nazi soldier when he was rounded up for a concentration camp, a troop of Brownies could have taken Omaha beach without a Band-Aid. Good theme, good abab rhyme-excellent.
