Hi Jaq,

what a wonderful presentation... the format is outstanding and fits the words like a proverbial glove.

This screams to another step up in your spiritual evolution... when things get to a point where change has to occur... this is where we gain our mental power over adversity... and your desire to overcome is the standout message I take from this beautifully written poem... I love the fighter in you... you inspire through your willingness to release your inner turmoil... that in itself is mental strength... and I know you have bucket loads... your a fighter.

I am truly, so happy I went to your profile page, as I never received this poem in my inbox... I would have hated to have missed such a gem... but I see I have a few to catch up on... so I'll be back!

With our thoughts we create,
mental strength,
James xx

I seldom have that issue, sleep never seems to elude me, sometimes it overtakes me too soon, especially when I Want my mind to wander. I like how you captured two phases here

What a wonderfully hopeful way you conclude this well-metered and rhymed poem. You express what everyone experiences at some time or another in life, I think - when sleep eludes us, those frustrations and disappointments can haunt us, yet "caressed by hope's delight" will take us from the dark place every time, if we can only let it.

The other side of midnight might me mean the confrontation of the other side of life and the unanswerable question. In our Faustian culture we sell our souls to the devil in exchange for all the experience we can take until that fateful stroke of midnight when the devil comes to make his claim. But our poet is more positive. At the other side of midnight comes the dawn with hope and promise. But these things might be our carefully spun illusions. Rebuilding dreams is always dicey and rarely satisfactory. But what is the poet fighting for? -Ekim777

Solid abcb rhymes
Funny what kind of thoughts control your mind when sleep evades you.

The positive thoughts in the second part of the other side of midnight are the ones to go with. We all suffer sorrows and trials and tribulations but it only serves to make us feel grateful for what we have. Good use of rhyming and words to convey your message. Enjoyable read. Faye

Thank you so much Raoul for your glittering review and wonderful six. I have had a broken arm and to be honest I lost the love of writing for a while. Hopefully this is me now easing my way back in. Once again many thanks. Jaq xx
