The best help is questioning little things. Or they'll comment something like "What happened to" and then name a character I forgot about! Or they'll point out that something happened to easily. Nothing big, but it all helps keep it on track. Then some great ideas pop up once in a while too. Angles that hadn't occurred to me at all.
