Good story my friend. And I bet you have done this in real life too. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have the time to look at my profile there are some notes about a couple of chapters of my book that are up for review again with new additions to both and some editing as well.

I really liked your story. It resonated loud and clear. To observe and not do anything is by far the worse action. I too have often stepped in and taught my children to do the same. Nice way of getting the message out!

This is a story readers can relate to as everyone of us has either been picked on, witnessed being picked on ot have been part of the bully crowd.

As a child I couldn't stomach cruelty but was too tiny and unscary to do much about it except to befriend the victim, thus raising his/her status a bit.
I learned as a small child, though i can't remember where, that "kindness to others was kindness to Christ" but I always wondered why cruel people, even some Christians, didn't see the reverse meaning. 'Meanness to others is meanness to Christ."

Mikey, this is just up my street. I confess to not being able to keep up with most of your writing because you are so prolific, I'd end up reading your stuff all day! This is one of the very best stories I've ever read about bullying, and I know about bullying. I was bullied and I've never forgotten it. As an adult I agonized over my son being bullied and the awful damage it did to him, and yes, you are so right! To watch and do nothing is the worst sin; bullies have low self esteem and the only way they can see to deal with it is to bully others, they need help too. For evil to triumph it only needs the good to do nothing. Hugs, hadria

Richard wouldn't be a boy that would set records for being fat>>> I suggest: Richard wouldn't set records for being fat.

Amazing twist at the end.

I love the picture. I love the story. I hate bullies. I grew up in a large family. We would circle the wagons if a bully picked on any of us. We also did it for our friends. Great work

Thank you, Mike, for having the gumption to stand up to those bullies in middle school. I don't think that Richard will ever forget you for your kindness. Your example goes a long way to set the example that Jesus was talking about when He said words like "If you did it to the least of these, my brethren, you've done it unto me," and the second commandment, "...Love your neighbor as yourself." I am sending you a virtual six, as sadly I am all out of them, because I have been away from this sight for a while.

What a well-done story. I've found too that you're lucky to get five reads on blind prompts as opposed to at least fifteen when in plain sight. Of course, you could afford to confront the bullies having earned a reputation. Weak ones would have the bullies beat them up. Still, I think he and He would be proud that he tried. :-)
