A very powerful last line, "I felt the end coming. I had no intention of surrendering. I'd prefer to die in freedom." That says a whole lot. Reminds me that living as a slave isn't preferable to death either, whatever one might be a slave to. Looking very much forward to the rest of the story.

So this is it, David vs Goliath. But which is which? I see a last minute rescue coming from andrews, but will it be too late for Johnny. You've really got the foreboding going for him. Is it to lighten the impact if he gets killed, or just to increase the tension of the situation? Either way, I'm moving on to the next chapter very quickly. Nice work.

The Canadian navy coming to the rescue? Nothing against Canada, but they are not known as a military pose- your characters inhabit a strange world. As for why we destroy the planet? We treat it as if we are gods ourselves, above the world and not of it.

I'm just waiting to see what's coming. This is another 5 1/2 for me. You've got readers eagerly anticipating the resolution of this crisis (well, at least I am). No pressure, but I'm sure you know everything hinges on how you resolve this, and what happens next. It seems you've got something planned. I can't wait to see what it is.

This was awesome. Dynamite descriptions and tons of tension. You did a terrific job conveying the attempt to communicate with the captives. I am filled with anxiety and anxiously await the next chapter.
