I wonder at the choice of metaphor
for all those bits of me I've left behind.
I hope that somewhere in that massive heap
that someone find a morsel they will keep

Thank you for reading my work and for your supportive review.

Beautiful about something as mundane as a falling leave, a sign of the wonderful imagination of the poet. How many of us have felt as a fallen leave at times and need a friend to hold us.
Your poem, dear friend, is about a simple leave and yet is very profound that makes us think about us humans.
Un abrazo para ti.

Thank you dear friend. Always, my amiguita.

You make such beauty out of a simple fallen leaf, and make it meaningful instead. The imagery is good in this free verse, that tells a short but compelling story, with a wise message. Yes, we do leave more behind than we think.

Thank you for these profound comments. Thank you.

Oh my! This made me catch my breath. What makes a good poem is that it can be read on at least two levels. The repetition of the title line takes on more meaning each time.
Universal line:we always leave something behind...

Hello amada, A thought-provoking poem. Of special note:
Consider the fallen leaf.
I held one of them today.
Cold, it clung to my hand
seeking warmth,
(As if it were a delicate life, perhaps a newborn)
And:
But one remained on my palm:
a reminder,
perhaps,
that we always leave something behind
(Like a friend who's saying good-bye or the passing of a loved one.)
And so ...
The fallen leaf rests
but the western winds
whirls its friend back
into the deep blue sky.
amada, very good. This leaf is done yet. Smiles, LateBloomer

Good alliteration with twisted/turned...cold/clung...couldn't/cuddle...smile/sparkle/sigh. Good simile use with like sacred golden dust. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.

A poignant, beautifully written work about the temporal Beauty and the fragility of life, whether it be animal or vegetable, it is still subject to time, and the vessel becomes a shell! A well written free verse! Descriptive language is poignant and lucid! Well done, Blessings, Roy.

The fallen leaf is fragile as our existence. In the end it crumbles and goes back to earth. The cycle shall continue. Seems as if I read something similar like this. Did you rewrite something, or just build on a previous idea? Either way, SUPERB! Les

You really captured the fragility of
the leaf in this lovely free verse.
Great descriptive writing - lots of detailed description
that gives the reader an "up-close" picture.
