When I lived at my hobby farm, I had to get rid of a big snake that crept into our front porch, such is the life! As you rightly say,
"Please don't play with the rattlesnakes".

Well done.

That sign would send me running in the opposite direction. Great narrative poem. Good flow of rhythm and rhymes. Creative visual imagery. Good author notes. Nice work.

A well-penned reminder of the danger nature can pose;
Were this girls' parents nearby--why didn't they handle the snake--yes, some people simply choose not to heed the necessary posted signs.
Where did she find the snake? She's either brave or very stupid.

Nice verse that flows well. A very enjoyable verse. Interesting form. I'm with you, why the need for such posted warnings. But people can be crazy! Smiles

A great topic choice and chosen image.
It is truly astounding really how many people don't heed basic safety when danger is lurking.
Your very timely Kyrielle poem very nicely reinforced the message-please don't play with the rattlesnake.
You don't have to tell me twice- not even once.

Your curious title caught my attention, and I enjoyed your Kyrielle form and its rhymes. I think "common sense" isn't very common! Hugs and happy Sunday- Joan

Hi, Treischel,
There are a lot of things that ought to be commonsense but it appears that common sense is not all that "common". Did you ever hear of the rattlesnake round ups in west Texas? "Please Don't Play With Rattlesnakes" is poetry of a higher order using excellent rhyme and meter figurative language and imagery to examine a common human problem of not taking cognizance of the obvious.

Well, think of Yellostone, when bears would come to the road and beg like dogs and idiots would try to pet or hand feed them and were shocked to lose a hand. Although the sign seems ridiculous, it makes perfect sense to me. Too many mouth breathers out there.

I agree that with regard to humans relating to dangerous animals, we are sometimes very stupid. Sheesh, people try to feed the grizzlies at Yellowstone. I enjoyed your poem very much and look forward to more.

Ha ha Good job with Don't play with the rattle snakes. Sometimes it makes no difference if a sign is there or not..Some are going to play anyway.. Some even try and kiss them nasty critters.
