Well written. Nice to share fond memories with the readers. Written well enough for those that have or do walk a beach can remember the times they walked hand and hand with their loved ones. Good work.

Modification or not ... I liked it!

I love the simple, peaceful picture you create and the journey the beach represents - from the first hello to the happy-ever-after.

Made my heart sing and smile!

Hope you have a lovely weekend, Peter. Bless you! :)

Sonali

p.s. My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved Jinny. I can't imagine what it must feel like. May God be with you in this time of mourning.

Thank you, dear lady, for your compassion and the lovely way you have expressed it. I have had a lovely weekend, thank you. God, the Holy Spirit, aka "The Comforter" walks with me. Peter

What would we do without the Comforter and the Word of God, Peter? :)

Hi Peter. I think the ocean was made to tell our secrets too. We live. We love. We recollect those things that meant something to us and somehow all that water refreshes and cleanses a heart's soul. Loved the write and reflection. xoxo deborah

Peter I love the spirituality of walking on the beach...I love the double meaning of strand.....it can mean the shore of the sea....as well as a thread of fabric ...I love this...
God bless

You are one of only two who picked up on the other meaning of "strand". Thank you again for your lovely response. Peter

Dear Peter,
Forget the rules. For a poet like you they should only provide a frame upon which to hang gems like this. The feeling and sentiment are palpable.

Thank you. You seem to have bathed me in approbation with your last three reviews, Reg. I never forget the rules, but often I ignore them, which amounts to the same thing. Peter

whatever form you choose seems to work well for you. You have a great gift for meter and rhyme. I like the repetition in this poem - it emphasizes the importance of an intimate walk hand in hand.

You do compliment me, Elly, and I'm grateful, particularly when the words I've written haven't quite done justice to my mood. Peter

A modifier of traditional forms, you are a man after my own heart, sir! This is a beautiful tribute to a lifetime. It is not kitschy or melodramatic, just perfect. Did you know that the word for beach in German is Strand? Either way, it adds yet another dimension to this simple, sweet poem.

This is a side-note to my review, though I suppose it is somewhat informed by your poem (and your statement and photo on your profile): I want to express my condolences for your recent loss of your wife. It seems you have found peace and comfort in fond memories, and you are coping through reverence and appreciation for the life you were able to share. I admire you for your tenacity and apparent ability to maintain perspective during this difficult time, though I imagine it's probably not as easy as your poetry makes it seem... My heart goes out to you. Yours, Steph H.

Danke sehr. Strand? Jawohl, unt meine Uhrgrossmutter war Deutsche. Strand is also English for beach, imported from German, of course. No doubt we've all been stranded [beached] at times.
Thank you for your loquacious and lovely review. My recent poetry arises from a distillation of grief, reverence for her and God, belief in where she now resides, meditation on the love of natural family, church family, and all the wonderful nurses and carers who helped me at her bedside over several months.
I first taught poetry in Saskatchewan in 1957, but only recently have discovered the right way to teach appreciation of this art. Sorry about the loquacity but it is a response to your own upbeat tone. Peter

My middle initial is L., which could very easily stand for "loquacious..." I welcome your words, anytime you'd like to share! I took the liberty of reading your biography on your FanStory page, and I was deeply moved and fascinated by your story! I hope for the privilege of keeping in contact with you through this site. Yours, Stephanie

Listening to the cry seems that bought you full circle in the love affair with your spirit and I liked the walk very much.

This lovely, ultra-concise poem is powerful in its
message. I especially like your "life's fabric" metaphor.
Thank God for memories!

Thank you for your praise and appreciation, Janice. So far, nobody has seen the 'double entendre' with the word 'Strand'. It means 'beach' of course. Peter
