I think this indeed a tribute to the gorilla. I don't think people would go to such trouble for a farce. This poem is pushing the term poetry to a limit.

Wonderful assonance in 'is this statue a salute to a brute.' All those u and s sounds roll off the tongue beautifully. The sculpture suggests to me that it is a sincere tribute.

A very clever couplet query.The guidelines for this style have been adhered to and the poem does ask a rhetorical question and my answer would, indeed, have to be a guess.A great subject and picture choice.

Now this is different I like it,,, rhyming couplet with. Query,,, very cleaver,,, And to my it was a sincere tribute,,, you should start a writing prompt contest on write. Couplet query,,, well done,, blessings,,sueellen

Maybe it's both.... People that like wrestling must love that statue. Different sort of statue than what I use to looking at, however, good photograph. Good couplet. Good rhyme. Nice.

Great question. When you look at it, a million thoughts run through your mind of wonder. Tribute? Only Jungle Jim would know or would the White House have an answer? Baffled. .
