Those Happy days, we will not forget.
Drive-in was such a popular outing then.
Wuth that fancy car from dad to impress the girls, and doing everything we can to impress everyone.
Although the old Chevy is slower than today's modern cars, we consider it a car fit for the Grand Prix, smiles.
Great nostalgic write with wonderful memories of the cars we drove in those days. Mine was a Peugeot 208, lol.
Cheerio, Ritchie. :))
Have a great nostalgic day.

Thank you Ritchie. They don't make them like that anymore. Of course, back then gas was only 19 to 29 cents a gallon, and a new car cost about $2,000.

Wow! Tom, we could own a dozen cars then with todays money, smiles.
Imagine 19 to 29 cents a gallon and not per liter, we can drive the whole day and yet not feel the pinch!
Those were the good old days compare to today's escalating cost of living.
Houses are cheap too and we could buy 10 maybe?
    Ritchie. :))

Yes, so true, in 1970, I paid $9,500 for my first house. the payment was $75/month and I wondered how I was going to make it.

Holy cow! We could be so rich then with the money we have now. It is ironoic that even with $ 95,000 we cannot even get a really nice house now.
Isn't that a nice feeling like when I became an instant millionaire in Vietnam. Morever, I do believe that the quality of things are better at that time too, technology aside.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Cheerio, Ritchie. :))

This is a lot of fun. Groovy subject, and a nice light tone to match it. Clever rhyme scheme. And, yes, I do remember those days.

I love the picture. I love the car. I like the style, color and attitude. Cars made a statement in the 50's. More Chrome meant more class, Good luck with the contest.

This is a triple-treat Lunatika about the fifty-six Chevy. I'm thinking this car must have special memories for you. The blue and white presentation is appropriate. Good luck to you in the contest. Jeanie Mercer

Nice classic car. They sure don't use those paint colors anymore. And this poem came out great. You managed to work it rhymes and gained an impressive lyrical flow. Great visual imagery. Fantastic work. Good luck in the contest.

No, I just missed those days by a hair! Born in 1960, I was around for the muscle car era, though. That's probably why I'm so fond of them still, even to this day.

My personal favorite car from this era is a 1957 Plymouth Fury. You know the car, it was featured in Stephen King's movie and book, 'Christine'.

Go figure, right?

Great poem, Mr. 'T', and nice lookin' car, too!
