This is a sad but beautiful poem. I like its structure and the lyrical flow of the poem. The first stanza grabs the reader. Nice job.

I hope this is just a write and not reality. If it is reality I feel for you. It has happened to me too. Thank you for sharing and writing is the best medicine.

You have written such a touching heart felt verse
with raw emotion, the real kind others can relate
to and it takes great talent to write from the
heart as you do. Glad I didn't miss out on this
read and wish you all the best...

Is this a letter to the man from a mistress? I liked the simple nature but it was filled with some very heavy thoughts. I liked the imagery and the many senses that she talked about. Nicely done.

Hello Uptowngirlchef1961,
What a marvelous piece of Romance Poetry fully drenched with love and nothing, but only love!
It beautifully depicts the real feelings of love. Its wording is simple, perfectly matching the theme, having spontaneous enchanting flow from top to bottom, with its own rhythm and lively imagery.
"You cannot expect me to
read your mind
while
I am losing mine."
These are particularly the most striking lines. Its structure is also worth appreciating.
Both in tone and tenor, Superb!

As often is the case with tales in verse
The story hides in words from thoughts astray
Those of us whose thoughts are muddled worse
Will send our battered muse to disarray

As said by someone long ago
Survive the fire and you will grow
As time goes on, when warmed by wrath
vengeance points down the wrong path

This is a poem written from the heart of a person who knows she is not entitled to the love she craves, because that love belongs to somebody else. I am assuming it is a mistress that is writing this poem of longing for him.

You cannot expect me to
read your mind
while
I am losing mine.

This suggest to me that he made promises he is not going to keep.

Well written Mary

Very nice indeed, uptowngirl. I like the heart displayed in your words from start to finish. It sounds so sincere.

"send me long...lovely....letters
each one drafted to remind me
that you still care
that you are thinking about me
that there is still a place
in your heart that remains of
your need for us"

Bravo! Bob (Mastery)

Missing someone, and doubting if that someone loves you is written quite spontaneously with excellent alliteration throughout. Like the structure of your lines. Well thought out. Thanks for sharing. Les
