Fortunately, I have never had to endure a stroke, but your first paragraph vividly describes what one is like. Excellent use of the computer analogy.
I'd omit paragraph three because those "things" you allude to are vaguely defined. The word limit of the contest probably prevents you from citing a specific example or two illustrate what you mean.
The surprise ending jolts us and we really see how MUCH you lost.

Thank you for your review. I wish I could say this story is fiction, but it's not. I'm afraid I lost a good deal more than a few memory cells and a home, but every day I thank God for bringing me to a new love, a new home and supportive family -

I think you have entered this twice! I thought you might like to know. I will still give you a 5, haven't got a 6 otherwise you would have had it! xsx

I've told Fanstory - I only entered once but I guess my finger bounced on the key.

I like the comparison with the computer switch
A good solution when others try to convince you you're remembering things wrong, to have that tape and diary at hand to confirm your perception of the events! Brooke

Memory is an amazing thing. I don't blame the people involved for remembering things in a different way - because I do to, so reading back through those diaries can come as quite a shock sometimes. Thanks for the excellent review.
