My wife and I went camping a lot. Although we went on many expensive trips, I think I liked camping the most. I must admit that I got carried away with campfires. Thanks for taking me camping with you. Nice job.

    your hiker's pantry!

    Ingredients
    1 1â??2 c powdered sugar
    1â??4 c dry milk
    1â??4 c cocoa powder
    1 pn salt
    1â??2 t pure vanilla extract
    2 T unsalted butter
    2 T water
    Notes
You can also add in nuts and dried fruit if you like, stir in at the end. Start with 1/4 cup total and add more as desired.
For a mocha flavor add in 1 to 3 teaspoon of instant coffee or espresso granules.

For the cocoa powder use unsweetened cocoa, not hot cocoa mix.

    Instructions
    At home:
Sift the powdered sugar and then measure it. Add it to a medium mixing bowl with the dry milk, cocoa powder and salt, stir together well.
Meanwhile in a small saucepan over low heat melt the butter and water together.
With a spoon, slowly add in the melted butter mixture, mixing well till combined. Add in the vanilla and beat till mixed in.
Take a sandwich box and lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray or butter it. Scoop the mixture into the box and pat out flat using the spoon or clean fingers.
Cover tightly and let chill for 30 minutes or longer to set up. Carry in the box or pop out and wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper

My sister does this on her stove too

Oh, your a man after my own heart. It's my very favorite thing to do. I have a 5th wheel and we just went last weekend over Father's day to Yellowstone! Blessed, blessed, memories!

Awesome trip. It's been a few years. What a great part of the country. I remember going to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and then Glacier all one one trip. The wildlife and s enery in Yellowstone were incredible.

Hi, Treischel
Excellent quatrain verse that follows a good rhyme scheme consistently. Good photo illustration. Good figurative language I especially like: "As I spy a spotted fawn."
Good work. I wish I had been there.

You are most welcome, don't think I'm too old to try a camping trip with my children and their children, I love the company of my family, in or out of the house..
    We'll see!

I heard campers eat smores. There was a movie about RV's... Well that's still a nice poem. Give me a hotel vacation any day of the week. Lyrically good. Nice rhymes. Good quatrains form. Good work.

Excellent! Poem with feeling. Takes the reader on the remininiscing, longing and enjoyment with you. It has been about 29 years since I have been a on a full fledged campout (military field duty does not count). I liked it.

We've been planning to go on one but it's always been put at bay for a lot of reasons (^_^) . I'm loving quatrains, rhymes and lots more, though been busy lately. Glad to learn a lot by reading your poems.
Cheers

Camping is the best. I miss it so much. I had a Chevy econoline conversion van with a sink, shower, stove, and two beds. Went everywhere in the west armed with camera, notebooks, and pens. You really took me back with this one. What kind of camera do you use?

Thanks Ravenblack. I use two. I use a Kodak 981 because it has awesome wide angle lens and 26X long range focus, I also have a Sony Alpha with a 55-300 mm lens I use fir action and it takes very nice macros.
