Oh this is beautiful. I love anything pertaining to Native Americans, and their lore...religion. ? 55 words are not many, but this is a story! Nice job Bev. Wow. :) Susan

The story is mysterious and dangerous and intriguing. I love this idea; we are on the edge of a new, or is it old, world here. What beautiful images--the cave, the seeker, the figure in the moonlit--and in so few words. It reads like the opening of a science fiction book. Is it?

Hi, VK. Thank you for this awesome review! I have been toying with this as the idea for a new novel, once I've finished my current one. Thanks for your input and generosity. Means a lot. Warmest regards, Bev

Hi Bev,
I've read it several times with your notes. I'm trying to figure did Lansa imagine an extra-terrestrial being? Is he so hungry he's seeing things? It's an interesting short story. Good luck in the contest, my friend.

Been a while since you posted a chapter, hasn't it? You're getting almost as bad as me, girl. We must get back to it = both of us. I miss us. LOL!

Yay, you got where I was headed with the story!! I know, I've been bad... had a trip which put me far behind. But it was good to get away for a while. You are right, Adrienne, we both need to get the lead out! I will, if you will LOL. Love ya, Bev

What an intriguing title! Thank you for your notes of additional context. They added to my enjoyment of your legend and gave an insightful comparison to our "extra-terrestrial" descriptions. I liked your personification of the cave and the drama you created in this tiny vignette. Best wishes in the contest. -Joan

A well written story of a Hopi Indian's hallucinatory(?) experience during a time of fasting and self-examination. A rainbow circled moon means there's a thin cloud covering it. An unusual occurrence in the desert. Well done. :) nancy

Hi, Nancy. Wow, I think you'll have to be my go-to gal for any questions I have on the desert. I live in Michigan, so I am at an obvious disadvantage. I only see it up close when we vacation in New Mexico and must admit I love it.

Thanks for the supportive read and generous review, Nancy.

    Warmest regards, Bev

It is a very beautiful place. And so varied. I lived in Central Texas in the mid-80s. Harsh but beautiful. :) Nancy

I do find it fascinating, Nancy. Strange since I live in such a lush environment. Love the night skies and the uncluttered spaces. :0) Bev

Wow, Bev. This is a great entry. The tension builds and the ending satisfies. Appreciate the author notes. I have been wondering what your real life connection is to the Indian culture? It is seems to be all encompassing. Good luck, friend.

Thank you so much, Dallas. The more I write of the various cultures, the more I feel that synergy you mention. I am quite positive I have had more than one past life in various parts of the world. In this lifetime, my mother was Native American, so that's a part of me that I cherish in memory of her.

I really appreciate the wonderful review and the generous stars. It means a lot to me! I'll need the luck - there are some fantastic entries.

    Warmest regards, Bev

Hi Bev,

I was grateful for your author's notes as I had no idea what a Spider Grandmother is. But knowing didn't make this story less creepy. A long time ago we were in a cave with drawings on the walls. I wished I had known what they were saying. Great story for the contest and I wish you good luck. Blessings, chey

Hello, Chey. Thank you so much for stopping by to read my story. I really appreciate your kind words of support and generosity.

I think these paintings all over the world, with all their similarities, are a record of visitations by supernatural beings. Anyway, the romantic in me likes to think they are LOL.

    Blessings to you as well,

    Bev
