I can understand it. One night I had one of my characters sit by my bedside and talk to me all night. He was angry and not going to be ignored. I could only do like you said and slide out of bed and write. The good thing is, I liked what I re read in the morning. But now I tell my characters to say their piece in the am or hold it til the next sunrise.

Well, my experience might be a little different because I was lucky enough to have an article about 'Fifty Percent Fiction' in a Glasgow newspaper a couple of weeks after I published. That resulted in 24 Kindle sales and 2 book sales (about £27 in royalties but now I am doing the social internet media courses to create some more (serious tweeting required!) I suppose the traditional publishing route helps out there because a. they usually pay an advance, and b. they promote you. On the plus side, createspace puts you back in control of your destiny! It just involves a hell of a lot of work because nobody knows you're there unless you follow it up with press or social media. Check out 50 shades of Gray - that's the way she did it after self-publishing on Amazon via a Kindle. Gives hope to us all!

Thanks for your imput. You should check out Night Publishing in. They have several hundred writers in a writer's group, who will receive the first chapter of published books. They vote on the first chapters and each month at least one is selected for publication and promotion.
You can join the group free of any charge. If you want more information, let me know and I will look it up for you.

I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one that can't sleep. It's amazing how those writing ideas take over and then the plumbing thinks it's okay to start working LOL!!! I love that you put it back to your kids that it's okay for mom to do it if the kids did it once too :)
