I had not heard of a Lisalet poem--very interesting! A heartfelt poem that expresses so many of the wonderful things about dogs--their loyalty, their love, their sloppy sweetness. Sorry for your loss; we went through something similar a few years ago. I like the way you adapted your words so well to fit into this rhyme scheme and style.

I am new to the formal forms of poetry, and every time I read one of your works I learn something new, and gain deeper understanding.
This is a delightful poem. Thank you very much for sharing it... I have yet to read a work of yours that I have not liked, I am officially a fan. :)
I love your dog's name! :)

Man's best friend is always the same though out history. Devotion and protection is what someone outside the family could never understand. Our german shepherd is Wolfie, son of Dallas, Sight for sore Eyes a champ of all times, Westminster and all. He is our baby and we are stopped on the road by people who have to comment on how beautiful and perfect he is. Your verse expresses the love and devotion felt on both sides. Great job. Robin ;)

Thank you Robin. German Shephards are smart, loyal, and beautiful. When the walk, their gait is regal. Sativa was a husky/shepherd mix.

Hello Trei, I loved this one and the reason I loved it is not only is it a good write of course, but it reminded me of my dog Bear. Bear used to eat things and then fart. He had one smelly arse on him but everytime he did, he had the good manners to look embarrassed about it. It's been near on to 10 years sense we lost him to cancer but, he was absolute in his love ... thank you for this one. xoxo Kiwi

They are wonderful, but very energetic dogs, people still thought she was puppy when she was 12. Thanks so much for the review and wonderful ranking.

A wonderful trubute to mans best friend, and another exceptional example of your ability to write the many different forms of poetry.
Your dog Sativa, looks very wolf like, a half breed perhaps?
I remember you saying in another poem about having to say farewell to her a few months ago I read.
Most loyal friends indeed Tom
Kind regards Trimple:)

This Lisalet is truly a wonderful tribute to the Lisalet Style.
You have improved the Lisalet, my dear friend, by adding one more additional 1st line of 1st stanza in your final concluding line and I preferred this improved format - does bring out the message of "A dog is man's most loyal friend" repeated 3 times.
Bravo to this poem story. This style allows us to bring out the theme very clearly and distinctly.

Well done on this one, Treischel. A Virtual sixer due to FS rules again, darn!
Cheerio, Ritchie.

    Hi treischel,

Our dear friend Gert has invented a new format and this one I like too.
I called it a "Gertuu" using the shorter version of the famed Haiku with 4-3-4 syllables - good for 'rhetoric' and 'slogan shouting' poem stories.
Many poets write in this short phrase poems or words in each line e.g. "K.W.". My latest is "Blooming Mess" and this style gave me a lot of freedom and less thinking to write, LOL. Please check it out...
    Wow..something new and exciting again..!
    Cheerio, Rithcie.

What a beautiful dog. I'm not a poet but I know when I like a poem and this has a very nice feel when it is read. The dog will always be a part of you. I believe our pets are in Heaven waiting for us. If Jesus is coming back on a white horse and the lion is going to lie down with the lamb there has to be animals in heaven. Great piece and from the heart. God lvoes you and I do too.
