I'm an animal lover too and I know how hard it is to do right thing when it comes to let our pets go to sleep for good. Your poem brought many tears and memories of my past pets, yet I still one three. Your poem was nicely written and easy to read along the life of a loved dog. Thank you for sharing her story with us. There is nothing that comes close to the love that a dog can give.

I like the rhyme scheme
good alliteration in phrases like perfect parking place
vivid descriptive detail
nice alliteration and sensory detail in furry face and in starts with a squeak
excellent character detail
a poignant closing as her story comes to an end

Thank you Brooke for the wonderful review. I was experimenting with the rhyme scheme. A couple reviewers didn't like it or get it until I added the notes.

It sounds like she was a wonderful dog. I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a lovely tribute to her. They become members of the family, and when they die, it's like loosing a family member.

This story is much like my own. My husband rescued a Lasa Apso out front of his office many years ago. A grown dog,
a female having had puppies. With out finding owner we kept her. no choice! She had been with us sixteen years when
her health had deteriorated and like you took her to be put
asleep...

A tribute to Tiva indeed that's a beautiful story, I can relate to the sad day putting a love animal to sleep,I had four dogs in my live which I had to put to sleep, now I have to cats. I enjoyed reading the story. God bless you,Lakeport.

Why can't pets live as long as their owners? When we take a pet we know it wqill end sooner than we like. This is a very touching tribute to your dog.I enjoyed it very much. My one confusion is your rhyme scheme.Your first stanza is abbcad. Did you mean it to rhyme ? If you could go back and change it to a rhyme form or make it blank verse, it would be much better. Nevertheless, I enjoyed your fervor over your dog.
