This is great for the voice is great as with your short stories that I have read. A perfect voice maintained throughout, so that at the end you feel as the reader that you've been sitting at a table in a bar listening to the tale being told all along.

Humpwhistle, this is a very good story/poem or poem/story.. LOL... I enjoyed the vision of Coleman, Queenie, the gambling.... all of it in the great venacular you used for sure. Great job and good luck in the contest.

This is just great! I liked the rambling style, the shifty rhymes, and the way you painted a picture of the gambler. I live in the CA motherlode country, and stories of the early mining camp gamblers abound. They all had a secret weapon, Coleman would fit right in.

Thank you so much, irish. I would loved to have been a fly on the wall at some of these mining camps and boom towns. I suppose that's why I like to mix history with my fiction. I'm so glad you enjoyed. Peace, Lee
