I truly like the suspense and the time well spent reading this story in a poem I was hoping for a revealing of who done the killing. But the rhyme and style and the characters well described, those who lied, or given suspicion, even from the kitchen. All the best

Thanks so much for the thoughtful review. I too have been off site for months and just checked back to make sure I hadn't been ousted for non-payment. I am so glad that the piece left you wanting. But while the poem is based on the game of Clue, I didn't want to show all the cards. The denouement missing, the reader to decide whodunit and visualize the act. I am so glad you liked it and hope you will read more of my musings. I do hope to get back to writing this winter when life at my B & B slows down. - Wendy

This was a really fun read. I love the idea of all the guests having a reason for bumping the old fellow off. It reminds me of a game called cluedo that my friend used to play.

I played the game of Clue (Cluedo, across the pond) for years. Some guests brought the game with them to my B & B and as I listened to them play, the lines started rattling around in my head. My only regret is that they seem to have escaped without letting me know who really did it.

This was quite an undertaking, and I'm sure it didn't happen in one sitting. I would have gone over this countless times, 'til I was sure it would work. I didn't see the end coming with the limerick shorts repeated, but then the end came nicely I had thought.
Also Limericks are a tough do, but you did it many times. Cheers, Don

Thank you for taking precious time from your own work to read and review this. I had hoped readers would have almost as much fun as I did in the writing of it. I played the game of Clue (Cluedo, across the pond) for years. Some guests brought the game with them to my B & B and as I listened to them play, the lines started rattling around in my head and the characters began screaming to be let out. Alas, It would seem that they have escaped without telling me who did it. Actually, the bulk of it was written rather quickly. This was one of those rare times when the muse was chattering so rapidly I could barely keep up with her. But I am a real stickler when it comes to rhyme and rhythm. Very OCD about it--that and finding the perfect word. What took hours was the fine tuning; shoving these nasty people into their proper place while they tried to run off to another room. Professor Plum and his revolver in the dining room in particular were very fond of trying to do their own tap dance while I tried to count beats. Thanks again for the sixth. It is much appreciated.

Can anyone say CLUE? This delightful poem reminds me of the game clue and that is a definite complement. It had me laughing a lot. You are to be commended for keeping the names and details straight. I could never have pulled a story this complex off. This is an excellent story/poem.

I haven't played clue in ages, and this was fun. I enjoyed the clues, and multiple suspects. If Sir Nigel had suffered all the things that happened to him, it would be next to impossible to determine who had killed him. Enjoyable read. Ray.
