Truly the darkest crime of the 20th century, and possibly all time, for never before was an entire race almost exterminated with such cold, scientific precision - a terrible moment in human history.
Your recounting of one such Hell is stark and emotive, and makes the soul feel torn.

This must have been a difficult subject matter to write about. You did a really good job in expressing the horrible reality of the holocaust. The injustice and suffering so disturbing and tragic. Your compassion and understanding comes out in your poem. Nice write.

Such a horrific piece if history, this is.
Your poem expresses the images and sensory
nuance of a sad sad event.
Well done.

I was so deeply moved by your words when I read this. What happened back then was something you find hard to wrap your head around. It is hard to accept that human beings could actually commit such terrible crimes against one another...and with no seeming remorse. The truth is hard to read but it is the reality. You brought forth all of the terrible pain, suffering and helplessness in very few words. Your last words become their saving grace...thank you so much for sharing this and God bless you.

Excellent poem about a very tragic time and place in world history. The emotion is truly felt. The white on black also adds to the somberness. Very well written.

The Nazis were the lowest form of mankind. This place was a killing zone. Nothing more nothing less. You wrote this poem well with good poetic descriptions. I enjoyed reading and writing a response for it... John

great photo selection for your poem. Although there is no rhyme, and no specific rhythm, your poem flows well. That is hard for a lot of people to do...make it flow well with out rhyme and rhythm, Great job

How are we to fathom the evil embedded in Auschwitz and where was God during those horrendous times. The greatest sin perpetrated by the Third Reich was not only the total demeaning of life both of the persecutors and the victims. The only power expressed was the bringing of hell to earth and staining it forever. At least the dignity of our lives should be granted us as we face death. Even this was denied. Your poem says it all. You succeed in evoking horror out of the banality of evil.- EKim
