Many thanks for posting this work. It serves as a reminder to us women that we do need to be beeast aware.

However, as the owner of a very minute set of breasts, and standing at just of 5 foot tall, a mamogram is like posing like a rusty ballerina and having your said mammary gland slammed in a fridge door.

Here in Ireland, thankfully these procedures are free, and we also avail of ultrasound exams in place of MRi's.

Be well

Hi, MumEsGirl. Thanks so much for your generous review. I hope you will excuse me for making light of what every woman, no matter the size, goes through for a good mammogram picture. Your words of support are much appreciated, my friend. I love Ireland! Only there once, but I found everyone absolutely delightful and gracious - beautiful, too! Warm regards, Bev

hahah~! I love the way you ended that! My mom actually had something in her breast too and had to get surgery to take it out. I was always unsure of what was going on but seeing my mothers stressed face over this situation broke my heart. This was enjoyable to read and pretty informational! Thanks and keep writing!! ^^

Hi there, Writingfundimension! This was an excellent way to start the New Year by writing about something so important and reminding all of us about the importance of mammograms. A very responsible piece. Thank you!

I usually stick to reading poetry, but the title of your work caught my eye. This is really good. I like your point of view and your sense of humor. But, raising awareness in regards to BC is the best part of this essay. BC runs in my family. I lost my mom in 1984 to BC. I am a mere D cup, but I have the same "pain" when getting a mammogram. I didn't know about MRI's being better. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you katsmoon. I am sorry if I sounded crass in relation to cup size - just being a smartaleck. I've heard from quite a few women that small breasts are just as difficult as large ones in getting a good, sharp picture. Your words point out, better than anything I could write, of the importance of regular breast checks. The MRIs are generally not a viable option at this time. So appreciate your very generous review and insights. Warm regards, Bev

I liked how you give sage advice to readers about mammograms. In your essay you've used great word structure, very good narrative and effective use of the writing devices about cancer. This splendid non-fiction essay should be reading for all, women and men as well.
Have a blessed 2012, my friend.

I like the title and the piece. Very well written to make women aware. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I would have liked to read how you found yours. There is no mention of your experience.

Hi, robbie. I've been fortunate to never have breast cancer - just the calcifications I mention in the piece that were detected and biopsied. Thank you so much for your review.

Nicely written essay on a touchy subject, but you handled it well with humor and authority. Thank you for comparing MRI to Mammography. An informative and nicely written piece. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry I read this the other day but got sidetracked.
I have to say though, it is also not a nice experience with small boobs, they have to try and squeeze them out enough to fill the thing, and if you don't have enough it takes a lot of pulling and squeezing ..lol
I think this is an interesting piece, written from a personal perspective but with great advice for all women.

I've been properly notified by other medium-sized women that it's no picnic in the park for them to get a mammogram. Sorry if it sounded crass in the piece. And thank you for taking the time to read and review in such a lovely and supportive manner, my friend. Blessings, Bev
