'Cured of Cancer?' is an amazing essay, filled with gripping details and, yet, sprinkled with bits of humor. Your struggle is difficult, but you sound like you have a truly strong spirit. God bless you, Barbara.
luv, Marie.

I empathize greatly. I used to have violent panic attacks that sent me to the emergency room. Now, I am in a position where I don't care if I die. In fact, it would be a relief.
I wouldn't have to answer, on this side of the veil, for the many wrong things I have done and haven't paid for. I have no family and no one that loves me and I don't love anyone either. Here's the thing. Once I got to the point that I didn't care whether I died or not, the panic attacks had no control over me any more. A psychiatrist told me that panic attacks were caused by fear of death. I didn't believe him until now. I think we have to get to "I surrender all," stage, buit there's plenty of things that I won't 'surrender all' over. I don't know what I'm trying to say but maybe you can 'let go' and write and do something creative, no matter how small, in the midst of this crisis in your life. I have read enough biographies of famous authors to know that they kept on working in spite of everything. I'm going to read about you on your profile now. I hope you are not insulted by my comments. Even if the shoe is going to drop tomorrow, and I could have loss of my freedom to face, I want to write one more line.

Sneding healing energy and white light

Love and kindness, blessings, rainbows,

Someplace that we can fly over our lives, look down on them, and trust there is meaning in all of it. That's a G.D. hard thing to do.

I won't tell you I know how you feel I lost my sister to this dreadful disease. Carol always said you can't understand if you don't have it. She enjoyed talking to other cancer patients. So all I'll say is prayers to you and faith in God. Blessings Rita

The one thing the medical industry can't take from you is that within your heart. The rare times I see a doctor now I tell him when I leave, "Don't call me, I will call you." It has worked well for me. My fellow survivor I look forward, too, to living to 115 and hope we both can keep right on writing and reviewing here on FanStory.

Barbara...
You should know that doctors are most times blunt and to the point and then with good news, have to be careful what and how they say. You, my friend must keep the positive attitude and your chin up. Do the excersizes, make it fun and not a chore. From a personal note, my wife has gone through this and it will be 10 years come December. True with every ache or pain her mind thinks cancer but she is doing great!!! AS will you!
I'll keep you in my prayers... John

115? Good for you! Doctors will never, ever utter those words, even when they're true. Malpractice and insurance is expensive, you know. The heck with the peace of mind of the person sitting before him or her. I think you have to wrap your mind around it like a recovering alcoholic. They are never not an alcoholic, they just sober. Maybe you should think healthy instead of cured? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for posting this update on your physical situation, as many of us have been wondering how you are doing. Seeing your regular posts is always a good sign. I think you were subliminally given to believe that if you did everything each doctor told you to that you could expect to be cancer free. I worked for a surgeon and I know how vulnerable people are with cancer and how much isn't said but inferred by the doctors. Your humor throughout the piece speaks to a good attitude and desire to get past this. I wish you continued wellness. Warm regards, Bev
