Thank you for sharing this update. I like that you still have humor and can understand the frustration you feel. I'm glad you didn't do any bodily harm to your doctor. That would not have been a pretty picture. Let's hope you live past 100. lol ann

I salute your sense of humor through the entire ordeal. Your hyperbole about "set me on fire" and the "colony of vampires" are choice. Bedside manner are not these specialists forte'--but their technical skills will make your 115 years quite doable! Cheers- Joan

My onocologist is rated among the best in the world. He is very good and when I tell other doctors who I come across who my onocolostist is they stop and listen. BUT, he will not win a personality test. I have learned to get along with him. He's not sure what to do with me, because regardless of how good he is, I still have questions.

My doctor of twenty years, is also a friend and very smart, but he can't handle my questions either. The doctor-patient relationship is a challenge on both sides. Keep up the good work on all counts- Joan

Good to hear you are at least progressing! I agree - when I reach 100 I am hoping to only be two-thirds through the things I want to do! Keep smiling, anyway

Hello, I am reading your courage through the lines of frustration and pain. Only one who has gone through this hard time can write about it so well. Your positive attitude is portrayed and your hope is very evident. You are very upfront and we who have not been there pay you great admiration. May God continue to heal you because He is not the author of disease. blessings

I think you did a wonderful job of relating your experience. You clearly showed the reader not only your anxiety but also your exasperation with the process. Finally, you express your confidence that no matter what the outcome God will take care of you. Well done! dl

Barbara, I didn't know you were a cancer survivor, it seems to me you are a very brave lady taking all those treatments and at the end have a bit of sense of humor.
I will say a prayer for you and hope you'll be cured.
I hope you have a wonderful and pain free weekend.

I was unaware of the terrible trip that you have been on recently. I lost my best friend a few years ago and I watched him go through what you have described. Unfortunately, he never came close to a cure or remission. I have often read that there is no cure in the medical language for cancer; it is either active or in remission and that's the best your likely to get.
I thought your article was extremely well written as well as brave, humourous and feisty. I admire the courage of people like you and this courage is in your words. I am sure I could not do what you did.
When I get frustrated as you did with the lackof appropriate information, it's always chocolate cake and a cappuccino. Your sense of humour about security, the ice cream and 115 is such a good sign and often one of good health.
I wish you well and hope you join so many of my friends who have been in "remission" for many years.
Strong and excellent update.

this is so fantastic it deserves a perpetual audience! laughed sooo hard reading it, love how you made light of it and yet kept it didactic and profound at points, powerful throughout, intense subject matter, open sharing of your story like that is rare to find! good for you for helping others understand the process and putting it all into a nutshell so well. i just learned a ton and as for you, you are so funny and cool! i love that i just read this and plan to again. soooo funny!

A very difficult journey, I am sure. I have three personal friends with cancer right now. This struck a cord. Well written. Good luck!

LOL, Barbara...
Your sense of humour over this dang thing is only beaten by your courage. I'm so glad you provided an update, because sometimes one hesitates to ask further. I have generally found that those caregivers in the medical field NEVER have a definite answer for anything...outside of the fact that men don't carry a baby in their body for nine months. I don't know how we'd ever manage without God. This is so clever and well written I do wish I had a six.
Warmly, Rebecca

When I was pregnant with my first child, he will be 33 next month, back then they didn't do all the testing they do today. Anyway, I carried Greg for 10 months, when I went into my doctor for checkups all he would say is, "The only thing I'm positive of is you are pregnant and nobody stays pregnant forever." I considered the bodily harm thing again.
-
I'll bet you did! I would have considered it too. Lets it go ten months and he does nothing! Yikes. Hugs.
-
By the time Greg was born, his skin was all wrinkly and a mess. He rolled ove at 10 days. The doctor said you definitely carried this baby for 10 months.
-
That's amazing!
