This is really a good rhyme the message on growing old is well told and descriptive. I have come to that stage in the theatre of my life. My wife and I are experiencing the old age little things I'm glad you acknowledge in your poem we all have faults, and that the younger busy with life forget their parents help while they grew up. I say again well written with compassion.

I loved the whole poem. It had a lot of meaning to me as I am entering that stage and have four adult children. Right now I take care of my sister who is only one year older than me, but has lost almost all of her cognitive skills and our parents have passed on. Reminding myself daily that I have to have patience is hard as I see my own direction going the wrong way as well. If you look in my profile, I did a tribute picture to her called "My Sister's devastation", it is very eerie now as I see what she has become. Selfish, childlike, pouting, demanding and in general... not liking much of anything. It kelps me a lot to go back and read this poem. Thank you so much for sharing it. It means a lot and the music ties in perfect. Thanks again for your gift of words and your willingness to share them. Keri

Keri first thank you for these words. Whatever else, it is so remarkable for an author to hear words like you have given me this day. It means that something I did made a difference and maybe a real difference at that.

I did not see anything posted to your profile when I went to see the work you mentioned. I do hope that things stay right with you. You are doing something that proves you love the people who have shared life with you. sending huggs. xoxo Kiwi

You are very welcome and it was much deserved :) The work I do is not in words, but in photography. If you look into fanartreview.com, which is where you found the photo that you used, is my profile. I would love to be able to write, but atlas, that is so not my foray, LOL. I do so love when people use my pictures for their writing as we all see something different, yet... we really aren't different at all, just different circumstances. Keep up the wonderful work and hugs back at ya, Keri

We miss so much when we ignore the elderly. They have lived and their experiences could be of use to us. Good work with the flow and rhythm as always :-)~

I wish I had a 6th star left for this. Tears on my face, you bring my own Mom bak into focus. Sadly in the same frame is me being less than I could have been/should have been. I love this and remember this as part of my own life:
there are going to be times
when I have accidents
and be an embarassment
I won't be able to help it
and believe me I wouldn't
do it if there were any other way
it's a little like the parent
becoming the child again
I'm afraid of that

You've captured the unfair indignity of getting 'old'. And I thank you for it. Excellent write, I feel this deep down.

Lovely and touching poem, Kiwi. This is the kind of message I would like my children and grandchildren to receive as my wife and I begin to fade outwardly. You covered all of my sunset desires in this superb poem. Blessings, Hector

My Nan rode a motorbike into her late 70s and wasn't to be stopped until life took one huge swing at her. I always admired that; she lived life how she wanted, right up to the end. In some ways I guess she was lucky not to fade slowly, and I feel no sense of regret thinking about her.

This is beautifully written - at first I worried the length meant it would labour the subject too much, but in reality it feels just right.

Awww Mike thanks. You know I do tend to prattle on a bit. I know that my friends EXMAN and InterestingRon continually battle with me to say it not resay it but somehow I had a couple of things to say with this one and it felt good. Thanks for taking the time to review once again. You have literally taken my sadness at never seeing you and turned it into sunshine ... thank you more for that! It has been noticed...xoxo deborah

This is so well done and I like it so much. I like the art work you shared too. and the things you say about getting old. Will youlook at my poem "The eyes that were life" if you have time. You will find some similarity somewhere. I did. Love

Wow, as a grandfather I am so happy to read what I think about these days, and I am sure most parents would relate to your gravitating facts in the verses, "help me to live my final days with grace," xoxo, you speak for all parents, great tribute to your lucky mother.

I'm so happy you could relate to this one Ameen. It should just be normal for all of us to care about the elders in our families but, sadly I do not think it is. Thanks for the review. xoxo Kiwi

Hun, this is both a beautiful and sad reminder to take care of those in later life as they took care of us in earlier life. Beautifully written and this reader is left with quite a poignant feeling after.

P.S. Your author notes? I bet you're mum wouldn't have you any other way! No time for past regrets, just an opportunity to make the present and future different and better :)

This is beautiful and so heart wrenching. Being an older person myself, I would like to say these things to my own family. I am so glad I had a 6 left to give you for this.

Hey girlfriend, I am a generous person but in this case, it wasn't my generosity that got you the 6-stars, YOU EARNED THEM. This was so beautifully written, I could not have given you less.
