") Someone else said it was from God, and you know, as he sat there trying to regain his equilibrium, I kept saying, "Please God, show me what you can do?" And forty minutes later, this bird flew off and now, I am sure he is here, feeding and flitting around, I see one of them eyeballing this window. I am sure it's him! ")

OH THOSE apostraphes!!! I am going to scream! LOL! I will fix these, I am so ashamed! Thank you dear friend...what would I do without this sort of help???? Ahhhhh!!!! Yes, this little bird is okay, and there are three males...one was eyeballing the house as it sat on the edge of the feeder, I just know it was the one who hit the window! ") Thank you so much Margaret! Well, I hear a gun, better go check our poor horses! GOD! xoxo. Susan

Realist,

A great flash story that reminds me of a robin who kept crashing into our kitchen at the ranch. We tried to determine the reason for him to keep doing and finally decided he was simply retarded. Finally he gave up and left.

No Duane! I had to laugh at first! ") Poor little guy! But honest! It was a male! And when they see another male who is "coming at them", they will "fight" it. He thought he was seeing a rival! Honest! He wasn't retarded, but that is so funny! It's what you think at first! The cardinals would do this to our rear view mirrors of our truck and we had to cover them (the mirrors) with towels while we were camping to get them to stop! ") Thank you Duane, it's so good to hear from you and have you share a moment of your life with me! ") Suse

Susan - nice story! Vivid imagery, great emotion. A Christmas gift from you to all of your readers - like your gift from "Him" on that Christmas Day. I'm sure your dinner was especially satisfactory and filling with this gift fresh in your mind. Fiction, you say. Reads like truth. Even thinking of it should have made your day. It just made mine. Hi again Judy! Thank you!! This is a true story, so I could not call it a flash fiction? But, boy, this bird, he is okay, there are three males...and today, one was sitting there, literally watching the window from the "corner" of his eye , just sitting there before he started eating seeds! I just know it's him! SO gorgeous! I love them so. I ask God to let him live, and 40 minutes later, he flew! I was so relieved! ") Thank you for reading this Judy! ") Susan

This is a very beautiful little story you have written Susan - Maybe God is showing you His love in a cardinal.

" I almost begin to cry, not wanting another window fatality."

That above line is very creative and I think your whole piece is especially well written!

Love,
Linda

Hi there! I have hung two pie tins in front of this window. NOW they blow around, and the birds are afraid to eat the seeds...I can't win! ") But, maybe they will get used to them and still eat, yet not fly into the darn window? Ahhh! Thank you Mary for a great review. ") Susan

Hi Sasha! Thank you very much! I am thrilled to have you read this, I was SO relieved. A little phoebe died just a week or so ago. I am going to put plastic over the outside of this window today. I meant to do it days ago.! OH! ") And if you want, please read a poem I wrote, called, "Angels Walk Among Us"? Happy belated B-day too! HUGS! Susan

A fine Christmas story which proves two things: the age of miracles is not over, and fact is often stranger than fiction. Your flash fiction made excellent reading.
I wish you good luck in the contest.

Strange how birds will do that, eh? I have hummers that do it all the time. So far mine have also flown away but it's very scary. Love your little write of this and so glad your prayers worked.

Hi there! We had a female hummer get in our garage last summer, and she almost beat herself to death before I could catch her! Oh it was awful! I should not be this way, but why can't it be the CROWS??? ugh. Anyway, thank you for reading this for me! I really appreciate it! ") Susan

My pleasure Susan. Know what you mean. Seems those little ones are true dive bombers and want to just get away ... no matter how they have to do it. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh.
