What a brave post. I love that you have the emotional strength to share this. I am also in the sunset of my years - late autumn at least. Do some simple 'brain' exercises. It may sound fatuous, but I start my writing day with basic 'hidden object' games and a 'scrabble like' thing called Bookworm. It sorta works. Mental exercise. Don't, please don't give up. Fight it. Inspirational pen. Don;t put it down. Blessings - DJ

Thank you for your kind and encouraging review. Not to mention the pretty stars. Blessings. ps: I am still going, better then expected and no signs of Parkinsons now the doc. says. He says it is my back causing my leg problems along with other things.

Your stength and courage touched me deeply. My heart breaks for you, and I wish I could do something to make this better. Well, new friend, I am glad to have you in my life.

Hello there. I am new to Fanstory and have just been reading this article. I can understand why you feel you might have to stop your work in Fanstory but, having been a nurse for well over 30 years, I would like to say that you must not stop your writing yet. It has been helping you to keep your brain active.
Dementia, alzheimer, Parkinsons are all symptoms or diseases mainly found in us as we age. Not everyone gets any of them, but I strongly believe that keeping the mind active is a good way of slowing the symptoms down.
I have to live with Cervical Spondylosis which gives me a lot of pain, dizziness and numbness to name but a few of the problems. The pain cannot be relieved by any more surgery so I have to make do with pain control.
I totally understand where you are coming from. You shouldn't worry about the forgetfulness, the main problem from dementia. Keeping your brain stimulated should help to slow down the effects.
I have just found you, and I don't want to lose you.
I can imagine that typing might be difficult if you have problems with your hands.
Their are some other ways of putting things into your computer.
I hope you don't mind me writing to you, I just wanted to reply to 'dear friends'.
Your friends in Fanstory will understand.
Thank you for listening.

What a wonderful letter Cathleen. I appreciate it so much. My main problem with reviewing especially is trying to concentrate. I was never very good at it and now it is difficult understanding some things. I have a huge portfolio and you are welcome anytime you feel up to reading. God Bless you. I know you get used to pain, but it is still difficult at times. I have had pain for a long time. So far I have been able to avoid pain meds most of the time. I have been approved for a scooter and will get it the first of next week. There is problems with my legs so I need it. Blessings dear lady and so sorry for you ailment. Barbara

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Y'know I have not written very much until this last 5 weeks. Oh the odd poem but no letters or anything else. The reviewing is helping me back on the road to more writing on a regular road.
I really enjoy this site. I will read through your previous work when I get a chance. Constant pain is not good is it?
Cathleen.

No it isn't easy, but then life isn't easy either. Cathleen, I'm not much of a writer really and hope I don't disappoint. I'm horrendous speller and now I finally know why. It was my best course in school and I was so confused about why it had gotten so bad. Anyway. If you do get around to read some I hope you enjoy. I am a realist and in your fave stark honest so it might get a little rough at times. You know, not nowing what was wrong was the worse. Blessings.

Oh, how I'll miss your rantings and ravings! I'll have to check FB more often now, and make sure to send you lots of presents!
You have always been in my prayers, but now there will be an extra dose of "Yo, God!"
Keep fighting, keep smiling, and may this next leg of your life's journey be one that will eventually bring you back to us.

Hi Barb,
I knew when I saw the title that this wasn't going to be your usual post and I felt uneasy about reading, but I did read, twice as a matter of fact. Over time you and I have shared many thoughts and opinions and became what I feel to be good friends. I am so glad you decided to share this with us because it enables us to help you. It is with this thought in mind that I can say, you will be in my prayers and heart every day. I have written your e-mail down and still have your phone number so you will be hearing from me. I love you, dear friend, and my heart touches yours even across these miles. God bless and keep those eyes turned to heaven and your thoughts in prayer.
Becky

You're so sweet Becky. I think we are good friends. I love you and thank you for your thoughts and prayers. God Bless you. Barbara

Your most welcome and my prayers are with you. Doctors don't have all the answers and there is nothing more powerful than prayer.
-
My dear Trish used to say, "God numbers my days, not doctors." Love you sweet friend.

Trish was so right! I have learned this through my son. It is the reason I got into natural healing. The smartest move I ever made.

Hi LovnPeace,
I think you may have reviewed one or two of my pieces in the past. Though I don't know you well, I admire your positive spirit despite the diagnosis. I know it's not easy but it helps if you can maintain a cheerful disposition. This is apparent in your writing.
I've been on this site for almost 2 years and I've seen many writers "disappear". I think about them, especially the ones who joined around the same time as me. It's thoughtful of you to update your friends as to what is happening.
I can only wish you well and I have a feeling many will miss you on this site. Take care.
