Congratulations on winning this contest with this. What a fabulous entry. I don't think I took a breath through the whole thing.

I hope things are well? I haven't noticed as many posts of yours as before.

Best of luck with life.

Regards, anabelle

    Anabelle,

Thank you so much for the kind thoughts and for asking about my welfare. My mom, dad and honey have been in the hospital so my life has been monopolized to say the least. I get very little time to call my own. Smiles, Carol

Oh my goodness. How can all this possibly happen all at once? Tell the universe it's too much and you need a break. I wish them all a swift recovery. Take care of yourself as well. Regards, anabelle

oh such a strong resemblence of life for one whose world is lost, where nothing seems right anymore and hope is dwindling.. your tale is raw and full of feeling sis, just the way you always write... there is passion in your words, the feelings reach out to your reader and the voice can be heard, looking for guidance, searching for the answer and praying with a last strand of hope in the heart. a very emotional lifting story sis.. is it any wonder it made a winning place... luv you and your explosive writing , your little sisxxxxxxxxx

Wow, what a powerful start, Carol! Are you going to keep on with this one? I hope so. Your description of the town is excellent, and you sure make the reader want to know why James is so angry. Congratulations on the win, too!

    Karyn,

This is one story I hope to finish writing in the near future...Much of the rough draft is written but finding the time to make changes isn't possible right now. Thanks...Carol

This sounds like an excellent beginning to what promises to be a gripping story. You description of the little town are excellent and the character seems like interesting one. I'm sorry I've been away so long and I look forward to getting back into reading you stories and poems and hopefully writing again soon myself.

Hi Carol,

Awesome story! Talk about tension. I sat on the edge of my seat throughout this read.
It has a good pace and your account of this small town makes one want to pack up and move.
Very interesting and I would certainly love to read more. Is this the beginning of a new book?
Your story flows nicely and is a pleasure to read and review.
Becky

This sounds like the beginning of a great novel. I would be very interested in reading more. Is this just a contest entry in itself or is it really a beginning of a novel you are writing?

The story is crafty. However, the mood of young James is too mercurial, and therefore not credible. Just the who idea of how he burned the bible and instantly change that fast in mood. It seems also a bit cliche, where a man kneels on the ground and crys "why God"

But overall you are fantastic at writing.

Been exactly where this guy is. I didn't burn the bible, but you know what I mean. Wondering why He let all this happen, but years later it was clear. Great job.
