This is hilarious - what a great way to watch novelists killed off - great gallows humor in perfect nonet form - I really enjoyed this. Brooke :-)

Glad you enjoyed this nonet, Brooke. I had some fun playing around with various alliterations to go with the numbers... there were lots of interesting things that could have happened to those novelists. Dispatching them was fun. They weren't very smart to begin with to get in that small boat for such a long trip ... ;>)

Wow! Talk about great alliteration! Your cleverness and creativity makes this a delight to read, SK. I've never thrown up in a nor-easter, but your poem makes me wish I have. lmao

best wishes!!

Thanks, Indy .. Glad you enjoyed this stormy trip with the nine novelists. It was a harrowing ordeal, for sure. Next time they'll check weather reports and carry some sea sickness tablets... ;) SK

Bizarre and funny, with great humor.. for the reader, not the ones who died.
I love these forms, love the structure.
You have crafted a good poem, with super artwork.
Very well done.

Th is a a cute whimsical poem that tells a cute story and does so in an interesting format. New England novelists need to be nervous and smarter than sailing the seas in a dingy.

This nonet poem is really clever, Art. I love the alliteration that you put in every line, while staying true to the number of syllables allowed. It deserves to win the contest.

I love this one, I live on Lake Huron, which is famous for its damaging northeasters!!!
The picture accents this well, your story is great for being held in a nonet.
very nice job here.

As a New England novelist, I understand
about nor'easters, and I wouldn't hop into
that skiff. I enjoyed your creative and
whimsical poem1 Good luck in the contest! Carolyn

This raises a question - did the "drowning one" drown in the throw up? Entertaining entry - good luck and thanks for sharing.

Nine nervous New England novelists
Embarked on small skiff for England
Seven survived sudden squalls
Six suffered sea sickness
Five fought, and fell in
Four froze to death
Three threw up
Drowning
One

So very creative and fun to submit for a group of writers to review. This poem not only stays within the guidelines for the writing prompt, it takes it up a notch with the amusing use of alliteration. Very cute.
