Wow, Aussie-Gal: I was riveted! So much happening in so few words, it was a terrific story full of action, suspense and drama. With such wonderful visual imagery of the scenes, from the landscape to the old truck, to the gorgeous little colt: I could see it all.

More, please!

Everything new of yours that I happen to read is that much more impressive than the last. I do hope you are working on a novel or collection of short stories! You have such a unique voice, and unique way of story-telling that is compelling and comfortable. You get all of the key elements across so effortlessly. It's a joy to read and I'm so happy I finally found my way here to this one.

I wish I would make more time for FS. I really miss it. And I miss you too, Honey :)

Sincerely, XOXO

Adam

You hit the nail on the head with this one! Something was wrong" (as was required...*g*) when this dandy story started, but yippity-do-dah!...it had a happy ending. (Can't help it, I'm a sucker for a story with a happy ending.) Everything about it was on the money: dialogue was just right, a steady progression of tension, characterization was flawless. Add all those things together and what do have? A winner, in this reviewer's opinion! Great job. I wish you much good luck in the contest.

Best regards,

Eleiece K.

Hi there, I loved this story. I live in Darwin and have travel the out back. I know the storms and the harsh of the desert drought.
(Actually) I have a Jimmy (A black tracker) mentioned in one of my poems. LOL.

I thought this was extremely well written and thoroughly thought through. It was full of fast-paced narrative which was balanced well with interesting, realistic dialogue.
Characters where fresh and real. I loved the story and I think it's wonderfully written.

Well done, have a spectacular day.

Aussie, this was a very tense story. I knew it was going to be all right because of the title. I'm such a bleedingheart when it comes to an animal in trouble and if I think it's going to die or suffer horribley, I won't read it. Thank you for a lovely story. It doesn't sound like fiction. pat

An excellent story that had not only the suspense
of whether honey would drown but also would she
and her son survive childbirth. Great elements
all put together to form a good story, well done.

Your narrative flows seamlessly, grabbing your readers' interest from the first sentence, leading your readers through a detailed background of both the landscape of Australia and the culture of caring for horses to the shared reward of a Christmas blessing.

I really enjoyed this. A good opening hook and a good read to the end.

Question: Is this a period piece, or are Model T Ford Trucks still common in the outback?

The horsey bits are authentic and ring of personal experience.

A solid depiction of self-reliance with a Christmas theme.

Well done.

Hi Steevo, Thanks for reading and glad you enjoyed the story. No, Model T Fords are long gone (I threw it in to make American readers feel at home!)It could have been set in the 1930's. I am a horse person and love all things to do with them. Cheers, Kay.

Aussie, this was such an enjoyable read, I wanted it to continue. Your imagery was superb. I felt as if I was standing right there in the mud and the storm heloing that poor horse deliver. Very well done..best wishes with the contest..jlsavell
