"Rescuing Samantha" is a beautifully told story filled with emotion, kindness and love. Saving her from the abuse, and giving her the best life she could ever hope for. Beautiful.

This is a very good story you have penned. I am so thankful that you took that poor dog and gave it a good home for so long. Good luck in the contest. Hugs, Teri

This is a cute and very poignant little story Thesis - is that Sammy in the picture?

It's amazing to me what a powerful story 100 little words can tell.

Great read - all the best with the contest.

What a wonderful little story. I enjoyed reading this. I had a wonderful beagle who died a few years ago and we still miss him terrible. Nicely written story.

Hi there Thesis. Lovely story about a dog rescue, and as a dog lover, I thank you.

Good effort for so few words.

Only one thing to offer you:

Our family discovered a dog being abused by a foreign family, whose children were constantly hitting her with a wiffle ball bat and pulling her tongue, as she licked them. (30)

Your poem resonated for me because we also adopted a bichon years ago and were so distressed when we had to say goodbye, that we vowed "no more pet dogs". You captured the essence of how much we can become attached to these creatures.

Hi Joan, we vowed too, until my 19 year old daughter said: "Dad, I need another dog. Sammy used to sleep with me and I want another joy in my life." So after sheading a few tears, we set out to get a puppy to love. - Thesis

I'm surprised the family gave her up to you and didn't get defensive and angry - most people, I think, would have acted that way. You've done a good job of telling this story in only 100 words - you have characters, setting, plot, conflict and resolution and a sentimental, happy ending, which is a bonus. Brooke

Thanks Brooke. They were actually relieved that someone wanted the dog. None of them really cared for her. My family became attached to Sammy as soon as we saw what she was going through. We loved her ever since. - Thesis

hi, Thesis.
This is an interesting, touching ans sad story of a special dog. I dunno what a 'wifle bat' is, but I'd prefer not to be hit by one, LOL.
Good luck n best wishes, Ray xx

Hi Domino. It's spelled wrong. It's a yellow wiffle ball bat. One of those plastic toy bats for little kids. Thanks for your comments. - Thesis

Thanks Writer. It was really sad, but we were all with her when the Dr. put her to sleep. The Dr. said it would have been cruel to keep her alive with her advanced cancer. She was a wonderful friend- Thesis
