What a story of feelings that run deep, and emotions that cause tears to flow down your cheek! The loss of a loved one can cause so much grief. You have faith in GOD which has carried you thru this storm. You shared this in your writing. I cried all the way thru the story. ; . and smiled as you wrote read the letter! What a sweet sweet spirit you have.
I lost my mother in 2004 and I haven't been able to do somethig on her birthday BUT now I will write her a letter and read it to her.
Your story gave me life's experience on your part. It showed me what i can do to share time with my mother. Thank you!

A nice story that gives one hope and encourages one to continue relationships with those who have passed on. Letter writing is a great way to continue that realtionship as you describe here. Most of us miss our mothers, mine died in 2003.

Thank you so much. It is a pain that never goes away, isn't it? You learn to live with it, but it's always there. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this one.

What a beautiful, poignant tale! It surprised me when the story led to an unexpected place, but it actually reemphasized the deep spiritual connection between the mother and daughter.
I didn't see any SpaG and wouldn't change anything about the story.

JaniLou, I was moved to read your story when I saw the title. I HAVE buried both my boys, 17 yr. old(14 yrs. ago) and 32 yr.old(19 mo. ago) and I'm always aware of tears from heaven while still here on earth. Thank you for sharing a wonderful, sad, touching moment wrapped in a birthday cake with icing.

Bless your heart. I am so, so sorry to hear that about your boys, even though we both know you will see them again one day. It is the waiting that is so hard. Thank you for the wonderful rating and I am honored that you liked this story. I have just this moment changed the dedication to include you and your boys.
Hugs,
Jani

As I type the tears are filling my eyes. What a wonderful tribute this is for your Mom. I know she is watching you and your children grow together. Just waiting for the day that you will all be together in Heaven. Isn't it always the way? The great ones suffer the most tragedy. A poignant, emotional read. joan marie

Hi Jan;
Love all your work. Had to comment on this one.
"Write to her? How will that help? She can't read it. She's d. . ."
Very sneaky with the 'D' and three dots. It worked for a while, until I got to --- she curled up and looked out across the sky. "You can see forever from here."
Then I figured it was going to be reversed.
Perfect storytelling, once again And very original.

This is a clever play on what goes on in heaven. I miss my Mama also- and she died in 1972. I guess you always miss your parents. (My husband misses milking his goats since we moved to the city.)

This was so beautiful. I cried while reading it. My son recently lost his girlfriend and baby in a accident. I didn't find out about the baby until they were taking her off of life support. I never got to tell her I would have been proud to have her as a daughter-in-law. Your letter has inspired me.
Good Luck,
Savannah Cat

This was exceptionally clever in its delivery. I know you're doing well with it...you can always tell when you read something whether its worth reading or not and this is. Take care.
