The poet has the burden to deliver a message. He is loaded with the inspired work of art and he is helpless, restless and unfulfilled keeping it dormant.
He tells the world that he has the facilities to live peacefully and happily within himself, without looking outwards.
It is a perfect work of encouragement and inspiration.

This is a very introspective, thought-provoking poem that makes me stop and consider my dark side. Have you heard of a doppelganger, the name some give to our dark side twin? That is what your poem reminded me of. Excellent imagery in this one with that dark, recurring image of darkness. Excellent. Blessings,Linda

I sure have heard the doppelganger. I believe that legend states if one were to be confronted with their doppelganger, that means imminent physical death!

I'm glad you liked this bard owl; and I thank you for your thoughtful comments and your insights. Blessings back to you Linda xoxoxxoxo

I know my life is intertwined
With his own barren, blackened mind
The mansions of my soul and heart
Display his sombre works of art -Oh my, this an amazing verse. I absolutely love the will-o'-the-wisp feel yer got goin' on here girl.

Damn, that very cool Poem.

Take care,

Polly

Oh dear. Me head is now measuring 6ft wide by 4ft long and counting.....

Your comments are truly uplifting and make a person want to keep going. I am planning to do a book, but at the moment, the poetry is helping to fine-tune the old writing skills (they'd been in mothballs for a bit before joining here). So, one day...

Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comments and encouragement. Your warmth and support are very much appreciated xoxoxxoo

This is an extremely deep, thoughtful and well written poem. Very different from your usual. You have done an amazing job of wrapping the darkside around the reader. For me your author's notes did not mesh with the poem. I think because you state "When he has left his presence lingers, which tells me the person is not embracing the light as deeply as the darkness. Just my thoughts. Found not a single error or anything I would recommend changing. Excellent job on this poem.

Thank you jshep! And I can see what you mean from your comment about the notes and that particular line. I think though, that we all react to things differently, and I know for me that once I've been through a dark time, once the light returns, a bit of that sombre tone remains. I believe that is what a lot of us suffer from - this expectation of dark times even when we're in the middle of something much better. HOpefully myself and others who feel this way, will learn to equally accept both states, and that way bring balance...Hopefully!! Thank you agian for a thoughtful review - it's always heartening to hear other opinions, particularly when they're put across sensitively, as yours has been. xoxoxoxo

Yes, it's good to be wary of the shadows in our mind, but then, there' s nothing to far if you know what negativity causes them in the first place.

Very good and very eloquent. Loved it.

I loved your poem, and the rhyme is great as well. I am one of those you talk about, scared of shadows, darkness, doubts. Your poem is an inspiration.

Hopefully these words may bring some comfort to you amada. I thank you for a great review, and my thoughts are with you as you work through your fear. And it's normal to be afraid of that darkness. I think we've all seen loads of movies, etc, about how far the dark side can affect a person, to the point where they become capable of shocking crime. But, I do believe that those people have never expressed their fear, or acknowledged it was even there, so it accumulates until it literally explodes.

That's my theory at least! And I'd best stop philosophising or I'll bore you to tears. Again, thank you for a wonderful review and best of luck! xoxoxoxo

The words grow in each line, writing about the reach for, always triggers our passion, dark side, more the side least explored, your voice in this poem is easy on the ears and the images created stick in the mind.. Walt

Thank you so veyr much Walter. I am very happy to receive a 6-star from you, but I find your comments to be the clincher! I like that description of being "easy on the ears". I do see what you mean there. Some poems (probably some of mine for goodness' sake) just seem to jangle in the "ears" as one reads. They can still be good poems, but just ... jangle. I thank you for describing my poem this way, and your overall review and comments are very much appreciated xoxoxxoo

Amazing! This is truly one of the best poems I have ever read. I love how you say "We've all been afraid accepting our dark side." in your poem. Incredible. I love this poem and I think that part of that is because I wish to be able to write something similar to this. Another thing you do well is using words to describe images. For me it's easy to see everything your describing. You transition from one thing to another really well. I love this poem! Please, write more like these! ;-)

Well, I'll sure try to write more like this poetry_geek! I don't want to imply that people should read my portfolio, but there are a few others similar to this in there if one day you have the time and are interested enough.

I'm humbled that you liked this so much, and appreciate every little gem of a word you used in yor review. I feel like cleaning out my oven now....THANK YOU SO MUCH! xoxoxxoo

Dear Lady,

Darkness comes and obscures the light, do we all have an evil side? A balance achieved so you say, I think we should work to keep him away.

Warm regards,

Winslow

Yes to a degree I agree with you Winslow. I feel though that the more we fear something, the bigger and stronger it becomes. If we are able to accept the light and dark side as passing phases in their own way, we'll achieve more balance within ourselves.

At least that is my philosophy, as naive as it may be! And I thank you for feeling the way you do about this, but still appreciating my poem. That speaks volumes to me! Bless you! xoxoxoxo
