This is very depressing, and sometimes fatal. But cutting is even worse when you know how it feels and are caught up in it's twisted, sharp blades.
What confuses me is that people have a treatment center for everything else but cutting. If the government can save the lives of insects, shouldn't they give money to save the lives of children?
Excellent writing, it really got me thinking.

I've had friends kill themselves. I used to cut. It used to help me get out the pain that I felt everyday. This reminded me that others feel the same way, too, and even though I feel alone, I'm not really alone.

An heartrending story done in two word sentence structure. Very good use of imagery and evoking powerful emotions within all of us that read this. It's so sad, but true that young girls resort to this behavior. Thanks for sharing this on FS and good luck in the contest!

This was excellently done to meet requirements of the contest. It did not feel as if you "cheated" by putting periods where commas really should be as I noticed in some of the other entries. They were not wrong, exactly, but well....maybe not cheating, either, but this story seemed to flow along better like a good story does, a beginning, middle and ending. Is the comma at the closing of the prayer, and the lack of period after No name a count against you? Not for me, but had to ask.

Powerful message as well, another important element. Good job.

Hello Julie! In answer to your questions, I conceived the offering like a letter, so that is why there is a comma at the closing and lack of period after No name. I am so pleased you enjoyed my offering. Take Care...diane

I knew that, but wondered if it was okay. I take it it was. I voted for it at any rate. Challenge to write a story so completely.

Your story is excellently written and meets the challenge of the two word sentences contest. In ministry, we've run across this sad behavior a couple of times. It's heartbreaking how alone and full of guilt people can become. One in particular was from a home that exploded with love and approval, yet this young girl felt unworthy of her parents love, and especially Gods. After many years of prayer and counseling, she's recovered, married and expecting her first child. It was a long and difficult road for her and her family, but she won. Sorry, didn't mean to go on, but your well-written story jumpstarted my heart.

Best wishes in the contest.

They also cut as a way to release the pain inside. They have no other way of dealing with it. Been there, done that. This is a really good story. I really liked it. Good luck in the contest.

This was a fantastic read. I really like your choice in topic since I am a teenage girl who has been faced with cutting with myself and some of my friends have too but I got help.

Great work, thanks for putting this subject out there,
Rose

I have heard of these teenagers doing these things, I don't personally understand how this could release them, but for them it does.

A very good entry for the contest, good luck.

I don't get this either. I have a 15 year old girl as well as a 12 and 17 year old girls and it's scary out there. Would a person hurt so much they would want to cut themselves? There seem to be so many. What in life is that bad that you could sink a razor blade in your own skin? Great write. Ray :)

Hello Ray! It is frightening. I dicovered one girl's sadness when I walked over to her in class and noticed a book she was readng - all about self-mutilation. I asked her why she was interested in reading it, and she drew back her sleeve and revealed multiple razor cuts. We were able to talk, and thankfully, I was able to get her some help, but it is horrifying. Thank you so much for stopping by - and hug those three young galls; they are priceless...diane
