Ha! Ha! it is hard to tell a story in so few words, but this is wonderful, sad the way the rats started out but happy the way they were saved and treated, very well written and presented****kahpot

I have never heard that one. So they didn't explode. And when the allies "adopted" them, they chewed through their boots, but what do you mean about their (allies') hearts? They loved them anyway??? rats??? shiver shiver

I mean they made their way into their hearts. It's just sweet symbolism. Don't worry, no gruesome event.

What an awful visual of rats' bodies detonating like bombs. This satire shows that although they were meant to use rats as bombs, they fell in love with them as pets instead and proved the war machine wrong once again.
Entertaining as all get out!

I read something similar a long time ago. Good fiction is put there in twenty words. Of course, this shows the total disregard for us poor struggling idiots relegated to reading another's celebrated post. I'm kidding. I'm not much of a follower; I have my own to write, but I'll check back periodically.

Ha ha ha, you made me smile with this clever write Gant! This is hilarious. This is what rats do, they chew through just about everything. Before we had fibre optics, the rats used to chew through the cable internet in our street and our internet kept cutting out! I enjoyed your humour here, love Dolly x x x

I like your title of using the German words Herz (heart) and Blitz as one word. But it was the British Special Ops who had the idea of using dead rats stuffed with explosives. The Germans found them and liked the idea. I don't think any live rats were used or adopted.

You're 100% right. This is a bit of historical fiction.
I just felt it was better to make the bad guys the Axis and the good guys keep the rats :)

I'm glad that you verified this story to be satire because I was thinking it was the craziest thing I'd ever heard of and yet i was on my way to believing it. lol Good job on the flash fiction

Thanks so much! It has some small roots in history, but I changed it to be a cute 20 word moment.

That's a little dirty and unfair training rats to carry explosives, but unlike Germans they were duds, but the poor rats, but I guess in war, even a rat is attractive, beautifully written, blessings Roy

This is a very interesting bit of history in 20 words and it has informed me of something that I did not know about thank you so much for sharing this and thank you for having the time to show us new things. Patricia.

It's changed up a bit Patricia. Technically it's not 100% correct, but the ideas were floated around in WW2.
