Debi, I am so angry right now. I'm sorry you had to go through that but I am also just angry at the way hospitals ignore us and treat us like imbeciles. I also deal with extreme restless leg syndrome and have had similar treatments in the hospital. Luckily my husband was there to set them straight and get me the medicine I needed. You did them a huge favor by not suing and they knew it. God is always there when no one else seems to be listening.

Oh, Marilyn, I knew there was a reason we were close. The fact that you know how hateful restless legs can be. The meds I take are for Parkinson's disease. That is how bad they are and easily cause anxiety attacks if I try to do it without meds.

So, I thank you so very much. Your review truly meant a lot to me.
I really do try to learn from the negatives in life and make them into positives
(even tho this came closest to being my final negative) LOL

My life motto however, is to find a bright side. In this I think they took my advice about not cutting out someone's meds without talking to them first.

So, thank you again for your kind words.
    Love, Debi

I'm wondering what meds you take for it. Was given klonopin and was addicted to it for 15 years. Felt like a heroine addict coming off of it.

If you came off of it what are you on now for it? I am so afraid to even go one night without anything because that sensation I think is worst then pain. Y'know?

Oh good. I would hate to see you still suffering. It almost feels like a sisterhood when you find someone else going through that.
Granted at the end all it had caused was my panic attack, which is bad enough. But what caused the code blue and the heart rate of 23 and blood pressure of 66/26 I should have been dead. But that was from my hemoglobin of 5. I have been a chronic anemic since I was a young kid. I am a DES baby so I started very young with lots of problems. Starting at 7 when I got my period. DES really clobbered and it even affected my daughter who had cancer and 8 miscarriage or still births.

I am so grateful to God and your family that you did not die as a result of the mismanagement of your medical team. During the early 90s, I took a break from data processing and took a job as a security guard at a medical college in Pomona California, I had an opportunity to speak to many of the students who attended. Because if my age and overall life experience, I was able to have some deep conversations with these future doctors. One of the beautiful things about this institution is, it breaks everything down and teaches the students that coming in they know very little and they must learn from the very basic idea and theme that hey are there to learn how to save lives, not to make huge amounts of money. The money is guaranteed, the lives of their patients is not

Oh Nomi, you are so sweet and I always feel so blessed to have you in my corner. You were there for me big time when this was going on too.

So would you believe this is the hospital that most trauma patients are taken to? It is called North Memorial Hospital and Trauma Center. go figure, huh?? When my daughter, Bridget was little she had a bike accident where she hit a rock and her head hit another one. Our local hospital couldn't handle her fractured skull so they flew her to North Memorial. I am not kidding!! LOL and that is why they wanted me to have my surgeries there

I thank you so very much for the kindest and compassionate words for my story. I am hoping that something good has come from it if maybe they stopped taking meds away from people without their knowledge. I appreciate the six stars and especially YOU so very much, my dear BBBB.

Hey you. I am so excited for your news. Please tell what is going on. I think I have a clue because you hinted about it once before. Do you have a new someone in your life? Oh,, maybe you didn't want me to guess? No matter what it is, if it makes you happy that is all I care about.

One of the reasons I became a poet and not a songwriter is that I neither ever learned how to play an instrument or write music. I have recently discovered AIs that will provide music for your lyrics. As a result I have several songs for purchase or just to listen to on all the major music services, iTunes, Spotify, etc.

Really? I am so impressed. Later when I am not so busy I will certainly look. Oh, Nomi this is wonderful. Any chance that big stars could see them?
reply by nomi338 on 27-Nov-2024
    I am fully hoping.
reply by the author on 27-Nov-2024
I have some songs that I thought I had the melody in my head so would love to see what AI would do with it too. Thanks and I will listen to yours first tho, my wonderful big brother.

Debi,

Wow!!! You are a storm trooper and I am glad you survived. Thank you for sharing a little part of your life with us. I appreciate. The most frustrating thing about doctors and nurses is they don't listen to their patients. I know my body better than they do, even if they have MD or RN behind their name.

What hospital was it that almost killed you. Just curious.

Last September my youngest son had a motorcycle accident. He broke his pelvis in three places and his tail bone. He also hyper extended his knee.
I stayed at the hospital for 4 days with him and witnessed the shit care he got. Well, I am one, a protective mama bear, and two a very outspoken woman. I believe in advocating for myself and family. On the third day I laid into the trauma surgeon and let him know what kind of shit care he was receiving. Surprisingly he listened and changed my son's medication so he would be more comfortable. The nursing staff was shit. He would have to call for his pain meds, they never checked on him throughout the night. I let hospital administration know about the shit care. Not sure they did anything.

Something needs to change.

Love ya Cecilia

So sorry for what you dealt with for your son, but are you sure you aren't my daughter somehow? I always stayed with my kids too and never left their side except to go to the cafeteria and eat maybe.

And yes, I am a mama bear too! But yes, I am my own advocate and hate when they think they know more about you than we do. How do you think I got hooked on the narcotics in the first place? I was such a yes person before. But I came out of it. Even with my health issues I dropped from 16 meds a day down to 3 and I had to sleep with the devil to do it. Literally!! I was forced to go off of my antidepressants cold turkey after a pharmacist misunderstood when I said I wanted to ween and he thought I said I was not going to need them anymore. But that was next month, not this one and they cancelled with the insurance and by the time they would have had more for me, I would already go thru a week of withdrawal. So satan tied me up with barbwire almost every night and then turned on the electric fence and sat in my bed and mocked me.. This happened many nights before the nightmares stopped. And now I still can't sleep in the dark.

And in answer to your big question, they set me up to go where everyone else sends trauma patients so I would be in the best care. North Memorial Trauma Center and Hospital in Robinsdale. What a joke that was, huh?

Thanks again, Sweetie!! Lotsa love and hugs.... Debi

Thank you for sharing this story with us. It's so important that we have somebody who isn't afraid to speak up for us in our behalf while in the hospital. We need to be our own advocates. You remain in my prayers.

Debi dear, I'm so grateful you are here! Praise the Lord your family listened to you and responded immediately. You were in a bad way. I'm sickened by the nurse's response to you! But the Lord was there and worked through your family. Our faithful loving Lord be praised, and your family of angels.

Thank you for sharing your gripping true story with a beautiful end for the book: I Survived. I am blessed by your faith and strength, privileged to call you my friend and adopted sister!
Love you dearly!

Oh Debi, that was horrific, your very own horror nightmare! That nurse should have been sacked! You nearly died, and knew it before they did. If that nurse hadn't come in to check your vitals when she did, it might have been too late. I'm glad you didn't return to that hospital for the next operation. It was a miracle and Jesus was the one who was there for you. I'm so glad you made it. Love you lots, my friend. :) Sandra xx
