Good point, both in your poem as well as your Author's Notes. Plus, not for nothin', but "Juneteenth" is the stupidest non-word I've ever heard in my life. I absolutely refuse to say it, it's so stupid.
I'm liking the symbolism of your red, white and blue font atop the pitch black background.

Thanks for your emphatic comments, personal sentiments and rating.
Comment from Gloria ....
A timely and important Juneteenth poem. In Canada, the enslavement of African people was a legal instrument that helped fuel our economic enterprise. European traders and colonists in New France (Canada) practiced the buying, selling, and enslavement of Black people from the early 1600s until 1834 when slavery was abolished.
We usually don't talk about it though because in our minds history is something that happened last week.
A strong acrostic poem and many thanks for sharing. :)

Good acrostic poem to celebrate and draw attention to Juneteenth. My son-in-law is a wonderful black man and thankfully we live in a time when he is free to be my son-in-law.
Well done
Blessings

I am part of a bi-racial family and I can't tell you how thankful I am that my great granddaughters are able to live their lives without fear of being enslaved. I would like to say that they won't face racism, but in this day and age, I don't think they will escape it. But I can pray!
Well done!

Reading negros took me back to a shameful time when African Americans were slaves and treated worse than cattle. Although prejudice and bigotry still happens today.
Good Acrostic poem.

I like this acrostic poem about June 10th and what it means for all of us, especially African Americans as we all struggle to achieve the vision of the declaration that all people are created equally.

It is certainly difficult to accept that it took a further two and a half years for the end of slavery proclamation to be set in place after the signing. And so long after the special date counted as the birth of America. A national shame. And still there is prejudice and discrimination. Excellent acrostic.

Wow! You have this style down pat. I loved this educational piece in honor of freedom. I didn't know it took two years after signing for freedom to begin.
Thank you for sharing this awesome piece.

Hi teafor2,
This is a good acrostic reminding us what this day is about. The freedom of slaves is well worth celebrating and should have been long before this.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day.

This acrostic poem, Juneteenth, has the proper formatting and remembers the Texas day when the news of the Emancipation Proclamation was finally known. Important.
