It is wonderful you finally had an inspirational person in Mrs. W. I had a teacher like her from fourth thru sixth grade. My parents took me to Three Faces of Eve. Scared me to death, especially when Mom's cousin forced her little girl to kiss dead Great Grandma in her casket and used the girl's hysterics to leave funeral and rob Great Grandma's house.

Thank you for your needy delightfully amusing review. What was wrong with parents taking their kids to such movies huh. I think my mother just wanted to get us out of the house. What a creepy experience for you. Thank you for sharing that I appreciate it.

I almost wish that your movie info was in another post by itself and that the post about Mrs. W would be by itself. You could even write a separate thing about her in Rhonda's book about teaching/teachers. We have been sharing about our teaching experiences there. Anyway, I'm glad you could forgive the comic book incident and write that tributary poem!

I could easily remove the one about Mrs W and put other stuff in I have all kinds of other stuffed put in. But I'm not sure what you're talking about just post the stuff about that about my teacher alone? I don't know about this Rhonda's book thing you'd have to explain a little bit more to me.

Rhonda is a science teacher as well as quite the novelist. She knows a lot of us have teaching experience as well as experiences with teachers. So she created this multi-author book for all of us to share. You can find her prologue at : https://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?id=1118666
We're up to nine chapters now.

I felt your Mrs. W section deserved its own chapter because it doesn't fit under "Movies."
-
true
so I could add to the movie part & put
Mrs W somewhere else?

I know who Rhonda is now I didn't catch the name because she goes by another name... I will work on this project.

I liked the way the narrative voice presented things from the past. I enjoyed reading it. My grandma would take us to see classic Hollywood movies at a local theater. I agree with other readers that fifty cents doesn't buy much anymore at the theaters. It sounds like Mrs. W. had some bad days in spite of being usually supportive. I was wondering if the '5 of 9 bell' meant it was 8:55 a.m. there.

Thank you for your delightful review. Yes friday night at 8:55 we should have been in the school by 9:00. And I was basically just getting out of bed. But now that I look back man of so much different than my father getting out of bed at 2:15 when his client was waiting for him for 15 minutes. I'm glad you like the way I present the littlenarratives I appreciate that. You're really the first one that has has phrased it that way Thank you.

This is a very well written story and I enjoyed it very much and wish you the very best with all of your writing. I grew up in a time when I thought one dollar was an enormous amount of money. One time I saved up money to be able to buy eggs Cardboard thing that went across the piano to tell me what the keys on the piano were. I said it off in the mail and I got back and put it on the upright piano we had in our home. I was hoping that would be able to learn to play the piano, but never dead. Patricia .

Thank you for your endearing review. The little vignette you added was quite informing. I would never be able to learn all those keys, there's way too many for my ADD. I played Clarinet that was enough for me.

Thank you for sharing such a rich and heartfelt story. I especially liked when you wrote about Mrs. W. Your poem beautifully captures the essence of her kindness and the lessons she imparted beyond the classroom. Great job.

Thank you for your endearing review. But I always say to people that seem interested in what I've written is you can go on my portfolio and read any of them. The best part is you do not have to do any review. Just enjoy it.

Oh Liz, your poem is beautifully penned, and I could feel the love that you had for Mrs. W. I'm sure that there is a part of her that regrets throwing your comic book away. I almost thought that you were going to say that you snuck back into school to retrieve it from the waste paper basket, although that would have been a daring thing to do.
Of special note:
But standing there
teaching us
who we can become
with the gifts within us
(Now that was a true teacher, and a wonderful person.)
Your story is well told. I took me down memory lane. I had to laugh about the mother taking her children to see Valley of the Dolls. That theme song from time to time goes through my head. Today, 50 cents doesn't buy a thing. I bet it doesn't even buy a pack of gum. I wonder if it would by a lollipop? I'll have to check on that the next time that I see one being sold.
This story made me smile. A piece of your heart has been weaved within it. Well done. Margaret

Thank you for your moving review. It tears me up a bit as you are commenting on it. Wasn't that movie thing funny? We didn't know what the heck we were watching either. We didn't ever see a cat we were only 10 years old looking for a cat. lol

Liz, I was about 20 years old. My date asked me if I would be OK with us seeing a play in the Village called "Let My People Come." I said ok because I thought that it was some type of a Gospel play--duh--until I saw the actors running around the stage as naked as a jaybird. My stupid. He did ask me first. I was most uncomfortable. He must have thought that I was an anything goes gal. I guess he found out differently. Lol. M

Oh my gosh I wondered when I heard it let my people come I didn't even know if it was something to do with cum. I'm glad you ended up showing him you were not a goal along with anything girl. Certainly not very religious was it? Ooof

Liz, the play was in the Village in NYC. I guess that I should have known better, or at least have been suspicious. But like I said, I was a true innocent. I was so pleased at the idea of going to see a play. Duh.

Oh yes what a thrill to be going to a play in New York...bwaaa

This is a very good story. I love reading your memories from childhood. I'm glad you had a nurturing teacher and I'm sorry at one point she hurt you by throwing away your book. What I've read about your mother didn't seem so bad. Was she not a nurturing person. I love the poem you wrote about your teacher. All those children you mention makes it sound like you had a lot of friends. I remember seeing the two movies you mentioned. At then my movie still only cost ten cents.

Thank you for your involved review. My mother was as nurturing as she could be with her limitations from having been abused as a child. She didn't have a whole lot to give.

So wonderful! And very parallel to my life. When I was about 5 or 6, my sister took me to see "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". (probably my mother made her so she wouldn't be a lone female). I thought it was about a cat, too! In my childhood, kids got in for 25 or 35 cents. When I was a pre-teen, the price went up to 50 cents for kids, $1.00 for adults. I went to see the 1960's "King Kong Vs. Godzilla" and they wanted me to pay a buck. Finally, the manager gave me special permission to pay 50 cents.

Thank you for your delightfully humorous coordinating review. You saw "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" too? You make me laugh. You were looking for a cat too? What a riot. I feel even closer to you now, Jim.

I remember being bored out of my mind. There weren't even any monsters in it!

This is very interesting and I enjoyed the entire presentation. Thank you for sharing it with us.
It was always suspenseful as we waited for the strip of photos to begin peeking from the slot. my scrapbook still holds some of those brown-tinted treasures. (My)
in the wastebasket and I'd return the next day and it would be gone for good, (the following day)

Thank you for your alert reading for my review. One of these days I might get it right and realize to put the next day. Someone helped me with "that". I don't know if it were you but I ended up checking out that I had 149 unnecessary uses for the word "that" out of about 3,000 words. I catch myself time and time again.
