It sounds like you and I are maybe slow learners. I mean, I too, married the same women more than once, knowing darn well we weren't right for each other from the beginning. I think I married her because she was a nice Christian girl who wouldn't do anything wrong. Then, two-years later, she still wouldn't. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

He dumped me for someone else the first time. Married me again 7 years later with a lot of chaos in between. I was a very slow learner. You married her because she was a nice Christian girl? Then two years later... more to this story.

I don't see me submitting to any man in marriage Esther. Ha ha ha, I had an equal partnership with my husband for 31 years. We had our ups and downs but we loved each other and I cared for him when he fell ill with cancer and don't regret a single day I spent with him.

I think we all need love, but we don't need to be bossed about. These days women to not submit to their husbands. A poignant write.

Suggestion for this line Esther, (apples) is considered plural.
All I see on your tree (are) little green apples"

Love Dolly x

Thanks for the input. A missionary kid from a very conservative background "submit" meant obey. King James was written when that was the ideal. But then it follows that pesky word with submit to each other...A loving partnership. 31 years of being blessed. I am going on 19 to my honey now.

I'm sad you've had to endure these painful lessons in this lifetime. It's good you were conscious enough to recognize that you were growing but he was not. That is one of the problems in relationships. We grow at different rates. Some seem to be compatible and others are just perceived as sluggish.

Thanks Liz. Problem with writing memoirs is they are long gone. I have a wonderful partner now and we are going on 19 happy years. Good man.

I'm very happy for you. That's wonderful to know. I started writing mine over 20 years ago so I finding stuff I hardly even remember. And then there's new stuff that's happened since that I have to work into here.

I've been there and done it! Divorce is something none of us can predict. We are all human and we all change depending on what is affecting our lives. I found my best relationship in the third time around and then he got very ill and I was there to take care of him. Maybe that was God's plan. All I do know is throughout the darkness, the light was always there.
smiles, Carol
