Hi Paul,
What a wonderful and imaginative extended metaphor for human aging. Nature is perfect. Beautiful artwork chosen to illustrate the words.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest.
Happy Holidays.

Congratulations on your second place win Paul, Your poem was beautifully written following the form.
Just today, my sister's church had a remembrance luncheon for those that have lost loved one's and friends....
There has been so many recently. I wasn't able to attend, but my sister did, in remembrance of our sister who left us in final sleep just this October...The color Yellow does mean a lot about Christian renewal, and purity...I enjoyed reading your poem using the color yellow as its background.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us...Take Care!
Blessing.

Warmly,
Victoria

I missed seeing this entry earlier, but want to congratulate you on your very deserving win. This is a beautiful piece to commemorate those loved ones we miss. I love your words, "the color of loss."

Classic haiku. Perfect balance, great nature image of the falling leaves, and a wonderful epiphany moment in the image of the leaves transcending into a feeling of remembering the lost, fractured moments of a life. It doesn't get any better than this in this form. estory

This is a kind and lovely tribute honoring those who are not here in this present world any longer, especially those lost this year. It is an excellent entry in the contest, Paul. You are using the perfect photograph, as well. Nicely done!

It seems that I miss a lot of deadlines. Oh well...I am still glad to see the contest postings announced for viewing because I like to experience what members are choosing to do for their entries. Smiles, Lily

What a beautiful Haiku entry for the contest and I really enjoyed about the connection your church is making with all those all over world... Bravo...
I actually wrote a poem called AWAKE which is the very first poem I ever put onto FanStory...
I finally posted something new today.

This is beautiful, Paul. I love how you used the whole scene
To symbolize the loss of life. And also so strange because it is kind of what I on doing right now in a Choka poem. I'm using the northern lights as A lady of the night and the tall trees as tall dark strangers. Anyway this is awesome. I loved it!

OMGosh, Paul. I am so happy you asked. I am just starting to review a little bit more but have so many to get to that I can't do too much for any one person. But always enjoy your work.

Look after yourself and don't overdo it, Debi. Do you know the eAdvent calendars made by Jacqui Lawson?

Lovely offering in haiku poetry form. Yes, I lost my mother in autumn and the song Falling Leaves by Nat King Cole reminds me of her. A wonderful tribute to all at this time. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.
