This is a very good chapter that has Marc and his father at the police station for the investigation into what happened with the accident. Since George didn't have all of the facts, the presentation by Carl convinced him.

The descriptive detail is excellent when Marc speaks what are lies. I thought maybe he was describing Peggy Barton. It turns out, he was making everything up to get himself out of the jam, but the police are too many steps ahead of him, and have all the evidence they need. Marc pleads with his father, but he realizes his son in in really deep. Hopefully, those in charge will see that he desperately needs help, but I don't know if he will avoid jail time.

You did a good job with this, and the beginning of the story so that Seth could be present, and Emma would still have someone there for help.

This is a very well written and authentic police interview that reads fluently and compellingly. Seth is being ultra cautious that this is conducted properly without any possible loopholes. Small edit: last 3 words - 'a heads up.' Well done, Barbara and thanks for sharing! Debbie

I can't believe that!! When you said I needed to add 'a', I'm like, but I already did from another review. I added it in the wrong place. Oh My!!!! I have now put that little word in it's rightful place. LOL Thank you for the catch. I do appreciate it. HUGS!!!

Maybe George Elliot has finally seen what his son is really like and will stop bailing him out so that he can actually reform! Great job with the details and the clear information given to the dad. I hope that Marc/Marcus will be forced to change his behavior.

This is an excellent chapter. The police seem so well prepared to counter the doting father's protests as the spoiled son may have to finally face charges for the way he has been carrying on. Thank goodness for all the cameras that show what really happened.
Excellent dialogue. You build the tension well as the father keeps coming up with possible ways to wiggle his son out of his mess.

Wow, Marc is such a loser. I hope he does get prison time. He is used to getting his way due to his father's money and position but I don't think he is going to get out easy this time.

A very interesting chapter. I can't wait for the next.

This was a pretty solid chapter with engaging dialogue, and more than a little tension between the police and the spoiled son and his father trying to get him out of trouble. The evidence seems undeniable, and the matter of fact way the cops handle the emotional outbursts from the defendant put us squarely behind them in their quest to nail this kid. It also shows how much surveillance video nowadays can shoot down alibis. You can't just talk your way out of things these days. I liked the emotions in the dialogue here, the realistic language, how you orchestrated the confrontation between the characters, and how it all seems to be pointing to Seth and Emma, the good guy getting the girl, the bad guy getting his just desserts, and the independent minded girl finding out she doesn't have to be quite so independent. There are stereotypes here, and I prefer things without stereotypes, but everything is handled with tact and design and the attention to detail brings it all off. estory

Excellent chapter 17. I wondered at the beginning how Emma would react when seeing Seth sleeping at her place, albeit on the floor? We know how reactive she is.

The police station scene seemed realistic with Elliot being put in his place with hard evidence.

Overall, whatever changes you've made, worked.

Cheers,
John

Thank you for the encouragement. Emma figures it out later that Seth slept there. We'll see how she responds. LOL

What a great, true-to-life chapter this is. Full of drama and deception or attempted deception, in spite of all the evidence. This is a bent, small town, full of troublemakers. No spags.

What a great chapter that's entertaining from beginning to end. And of course, it's always good when the "proof is in the pudding" or culprit is caught on film. Thanks for sharing.
