Gypsy,

A nice dark Haiku. Do like your tribute to your poet buddy Dean.

Illustration and verse are appropriately paired.

Consider alternative text for 'loose dirt' phrase. Gravel?!? My image of cemeteries is more scruffy lawns and rocky soil/dirt.

Mark

Loose dirt in the cemetery as for digging a grave, I never have seen gravel hole

Thank you very much for your time and kind review.

May he rest in peace, Marival. If Dean could have read this, he would have been thrilled. I still miss him and his writing. He had such a big impact on this site. A big hug, I know how much he meant to you. Ulla xcx

I do remember Dean. He was a great guy and often when I'd read his posts, I would get scared. He was an excellent author, and I learned a lot from him. Thank you for sharing this birthday with us.

    Barbara,
Yes, Dean was a warm and funny man once you got to know him well, as I did. He was very funny too. We both shared our love for the horror genre. I don't do it anymore. This was a special occasion. Thank you very much for your kind words and excellent five stars review. May you have a wonderful day.

Oh my, I used to idolize Dean. He was so talented. Like crazy good. Like you are with poetry. This one is definitely right up his alley. You have painted a bleek picture that reminds me of Poe. Great job. Gretchen

Dean loved Poe and wrote like him at times. We shared a love for the horror genre. We even corroborated several horror haiku books, one published on Amazon.... hora haiku. You wouldn't like it. LoL

    Gretchen,

I love reading spooky stuff. Not Gore but bumps in the night type stuff. I like when something challenges my imagination. Gretchen

This would be an excellent haiku from which to teach mood or atmosphere of a poem. Each separate image is of darkness and horror. Your friend would appreciate your thoughts-very well done. I do, too.

That's a perfect haiku for Dean! Thanks for letting us know it was his birthday. He left the earth much too young and we miss him. But I'm sure he's entertaining the angels with his "hora" poetry!

LoL yes, Dean would do that. Eventhough he liked horror, as I do, he had a friendly disposition. He was very funny and used to make me laugh. I hope he is with God.

Thank you for reading it, big sister.

    Love,

I'm pretty sure he is because he always shared about how he almost killed himself but God stopped him. But he did get annoyed when Christians asked him why he wrote horror.
reply by the author on 22-Jun-2023
Yes, I know. That's short sighted. God is about love and acceptance but some Christians don't walk the talk
reply by lyenochka on 22-Jun-2023
It is complicated. It wasn't a judgment on him but the scary pictures he used was not a real attraction to those who weren't into horror.
