Wow, it was quite a laugh.

I loved your hilarious cemetery and all its inhabitants. Your tombstone humor was above par.

Thanks for the laugh, it was enjoyable.

    Thanks very much, E.M.

As a golfer I'd rather be below par, but I think I got what you meant :)

lol. The "below par" remark is very cute.

This is so fun! I love reading headstones for some odd reason. Yours are delightful in Wilson's Graveyard. My favorite, because I used to golf:

Here lies golfer, Bill Gillette,
dead for breach of etiquette.
Killed by playing partner, Jimmy
'cause he never gave a gimme.

Jimmy's a tough one with no stretching of the rules. I'd have to arrest him for murder in the first-degree with malice!

Sending you my best today as always, and my best for your writing endeavors and your golf game, if that applies.
Sal :))

Thank you so much, Sally. Like you, I used to golf, but age and infirmity eventually put the kibosh on that. I do enjoy writing about it, though.

Hello Jim,
This is a marvelous use of humor in poetry/epitaphs.
There was a lots on controversy years ago because some simply copied
well known ones off the internet, one even came from a Disney Haunted House attraction. It was good to see yours were original other than the two you mentioned to others.
I personally think humor is underrated. Shakespeare wrote great comedies, as well as great dramas.
I enjoyed your humor, rhymes and meter.
Well done.
Best wishes.
Robert

I enjoyed your fun poem, Jim. Who knew a cemetery held
such funny epitaphs. I liked the image and the way you
formatted the lines. You kept readers interested as you
guided them along the path. The message at the exit
better be heeded by visitors lest they become permanent.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you so much for your very nice review, Jan. I think it would be a hoot if there really were such a cemetery devoted to this.

-Thanks for sharing the photo and the poem, Jim.
-I like your descriptive phrase.
-I guess the person who came up with this idea
must have taken that phrase to heart: "you'll die laughing."
-I have never seen or heard of anything like this, but
it was very clever.
-I liked the one about Robert Mudge,
and the golfer Robert Hutch, as well as
the one about the person who started all of this,
and the closing verse, too.
-A very interesting concept.

Thanks, Pam. I can't take credit for the idea of humorous gravestones. They've been around a while, though I'm not sure if there is an entire cemetery devoted to them.

This is amusing and lots of fun for a stop along the way. This makes the perfect tourist trap, a place to get a little exercise and a lot of laughs, and then maybe linger for a meal or at least ice cream. Very well done. You might try it at an op-ed page.

Why, Jim, WHY must I be out of sixes!! This was wildly creative. I remember that contest; I entered "Seriously Simon." I do the same thing as you now, always seem to be thinking of them - they're super fun. But this one, my friend, is epic. It's witty, engaging, and consistently so throughout.
Thanks for sharing another gem, Meter Man!
Xo Jess.

Thanks so much, Jess. Don't worry about the sixes. I always run out too.

I finally had to just post this so I could stop thinking about them!

Tomb stoning is something I've never quite understood, I think it was originally writing up life policies on dead people, (crooks with try anything won't they?) but this is witty and humorous, (did you seek permission from the rellies? Heh heh) well done Jim, great post, blessings Roy

These are clever, did you think of them yourself? I laughed a little at some of them but for others, I just guffawed.
These epitaphs would be funny if I didn't believe they were, in reality, a fun way to spend the day at the cemetery.
Thanks for this a great way to spend an afternoon reading humorous poetry.
Jesse

All but two were my own originals. The periscope one was inspired by an old Burma-Shave sign, and the de-composing one was inspired by a joke I heard years ago.

Did you write each epitaph? How talented and what a sense of humor. I enjoyed the tour which reminded me of a graveyard we visited in the Northwest. People died awfully young back when. So sad to read the tombstones of children.

Thank you, Shari. Two of them were inspired by something I heard long ago. The idea for the periscope one came from a Burma-Shave sign I saw as a kid which said: "Don't go passing on a slope unless you have a periscope." The other one was the "de-composing" one. The idea for that came from a joke I remembered from years ago. I take full credit for the rest, though.
