It was a great rendition of the contest, and congratulations on the well deserved win.

Marcus' Denise is a bit mysterious but I understand he went into a nonentity during their "moment" (lol).

Well narrated, with a good attention to detail, creative imagery and visuals. It was a fun read, thank you very much for sharing.

Jessica,

This is a deserving winner of the 50 Word Flash contest. Your creative talent and skill at weaving a convincing brief but compelling story with only 50 words is simply masterful.

Congratulations on the win.

Congratulations on this moving flash fiction, and first place ribbon, Jess. A well deserved recognition. I'm sure many can relate to this. A marvelous offering in an economy of words. Sending you my best today as always.

I can certainly relate to this story. It brought tears to my eyes, to be honest. I lost my husband of over twenty years almost four years ago. He was my best friend, my soul mate. His urn stands next to my bed on my nightstand. I woke up from a dream about him two nights ago, and I had my hand on his urn. You did a great job of bringing across the emotion in such a short story.

This was a strong entry. I see why it won. Congrats. I think it goes back to Love lost or gained will hold our reading mind, even more than stories about puppies and rosy-red cheeked children. Nice surprise twist too.

Haunting memories of one who is no longer present can be pure torture at times. Dreams of that missing one can make them seem so real, so near. Waking to the reality of their departure can prove to be truly heart breaking in its severity.

All in a dream. A well expressed and enjoyable little story contained in this limited word count. I particularly liked the way that, though only a dream, the memory and resonance lingers on into reality with Julia's sweet words to the photo image. Thanks for sharing this excellent story. Strong contender! Debbie

Hi Jess,
firstly, congratulations on you first placing... starting to become a very pleasant habit methinks.

And of course, I can totally see why you took this one out... so much packed into to allow a story to flow in a reader's mind within a tight restraint. Something you crafted this story so deftly in and with only fifty words.

Beautiful work!

With our thoughts we create...
illusions.

Kind regards,
James.

Yes, indeed. You accomplished story in only fifty words, better than many if not all. Well done. Good luck. You should do well to win, show or place, as if we think these contests are horse races.
