Beautiful poem and a beautiful tribute to America's heroes, Earl.
Wars and discussions of wars are a waste of time and a waste of young lives.
But this poem is of great patriotism and demonstrates a lot of fire in the words.
I liked the descriptive form and the fluidity of the words that became latent and powerful.
I really enjoyed reading it.

A very stirring and impassioned verse here, Earl! (And I wrote that before I read your notes) You conveyed this perfectly and sincere sentiment like this should always come before meter. It's all such a tragic loss and yet we owe so much to these brave warriors. Well said! Debbie

Earl,
I'm sorry this review is late. I've been convalescing.
Your beautiful tribute to America's heroes has a subtle beautiful beat, and the words reflect the reverence the fallen deserve.
Good luck with all of your writing.
Stay well.
Cindy

I feel the same way I get very patriotic especially when I see fallen heroes. No matter who we are what we believe and or what out politics are believe it or not I believe more of us have more patriotism than we all know. I always pray that one day we will all realize that. I enjoyed your writing good writing and best wishes!

It really does not matter whether we agree or disagree with the reason our young men and women are dispatched around the world. What matters, what is important is that they go willingly, knowing the risks they take as the engage forces that are no doubt hostile and in resentment of their presence. We owe them our gratitude, or love and our respect.

Overall I like this poem. I like the images that are used.

For me, I think I would have liked a comma after feeling in the first line. It didn't sound right reading it straight through without a pause.

I like the rhythm used in the poem. It flows once I got into it.

You and I and servicepersons (woke word) of our time will never forget those we stood by, and cried when they died.Today, service personnel are kin to the police, and come Memorial Day will only be thanked over hotdogs and brewskis for the day with pay off.
