Deeply affective, John. Anyone with a daughter, child, or a heart would not hesitate to emote after picturing their own in such a situation. The connection between the dad and God is not lost on me either. Excellent poem, which punches hard to the gut.

Hi John, having visiting relatives, I missed many posts for review. I caught this in the voting for Poem of the Month.
I am glad I doubled back and found this powerful poem. These words are emotional, sad, and intimate. It is a poem that for a moment leaves this reader paralyzed from moving on. A moment is needed to absorb the emotion.
Good luck
Mary

Hello John, this is a very
moving sorrowful poem on
the tragedy of suicide. It's
heart-rending and reaches
the soul, I'm sure, of all of us
readers. My very best wishes
to you. ~

This poem really touched me. I feel that this portrays a painful loss in your life. Beautifully written, you put me right at the bedside.
Some of the pain in life we recover from but some we carry with us for our lifetime, a hollow place that can never be filled.
God Bless,
irish

Hi John,
This is such a sad poem about suicide. It is full of strong emotion on both sides. It shows how even the sickest people can communicate with little movement. It goes into the guilt of a parent missing the signs that lead to suicide. It also shows faith and hope that those who commit suicide can make it to Heaven.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

John, you have written an intensely moving and emotional piece from the POV of a father watching his daughter drift away, a victim of suicide. This feels real, but of course I cannot be sure if it is based on your own experience - if it is you have my sincere condolences.

I have personal experience which makes this poem very personal. Only outside intervention saved my son when he attempted to take his own life nearly 30 years ago, narrowly averting a tragedy which would have negatively impacted us for the rest of our lives.

Your chosen method of giving the father's responses to the perceived signals from his dying daughter is very effective and the father's helplessness is increasingly apparent.

Exceptional write - hence the sixer.

Steve, I'm sorry to hear that this happened to your son so many years ago. It doesn't surprise me how many here have had similar experiences with suicide and the outcome for them not being a favorable one. I'm happy he received the help he needed to get through it. Thank you for the great review and the sixer!

Hello John
A powerful poem and great message for others to be aware.
Not always easy to do, unless you're very diligent.
Excellent transition in the poem to awareness of the circumstances.
Hoping this is not biographical.
Best wishes to you.

Robert, thank you so much for your review and the six stars! This turned out to be a relatable subject, sadly. I hope all is well. I haven't been following your saga as I lost track of it because I was away. I will tell you though you are one of my writing heroes! :)

Are you kidding me, John. Tears will always result in six stars. I hope this did not happen to you, but I have a sinking feeling in my heart. Great poem.

Thank you, Paul! It did not happen to me. However, I thank you for your concern. I pray I never have to live through what so many have here. I believe in awareness pieces and feel all are worthy of writing about. Thank you so much for the six. I'm sorry it prompted tears. Thanks again, Paul!
