Hey, Wendy, hi. This is a great little story for the contest. I see why you're kicking everyone's butt. Lol. That was a great idea burying her where flowers now grow. I would never had thought of that. I've buried pets in my yard over the years but not like this. I'll remember that when my old, loving cat goes. Excellent entry in the contest, W.

Lol. Burying your cat will be a lot easier than burying a big dog, but I am glad I did it this way. It's a lovely remembrance. hanks for your most encouraging review.

A wonderful write. I wondered if this was nonfiction because it sounds so factual. Why do dogs touch our heart and soul so much. I have gone through the very thing, my dog had to be put to sleep. The vet's assistant carried him out in her arms, head was down. She was the exact vet assistant that I had prior for another dog I had to put to sleep.

Thank you very much, Rosemary. A wonderful review plus six lovely stars. (It was non-fiction except for hurting my back (I didn't) and not helping with the burial (I did), so a mix. Yes, they do touch heart and soul, and become family.

This is a lovely story Wendy of the burial of your beautiful Honey and her forever resting place both in your garden and your heart. Lovely read,

Hi Wendy,
guess this must be a dog-lovers thing?
This reading brought back flashes and memories to my own burials of our loved companions, and yes, the back and the daggers of pain.

Every dog I've ever had the privilege to have had in my life has a special resting place. I have two up the front of my house on the bank overlooking the bay. One is mine and the other was a next door neighbour that has since moved away.

Sharka, my beloved bull mastiff cross has a grass tree thriving with her as the renewal of her life(forty plus kgs)... the other, Nelson was a big black lab who broke their family's heart and has a Yucca signaling his life. The dead weight rang true on all who I have buried. I carried Nelson for my older neighbours from next door all the way up the front, dug a giant hole,(luckily sand,) but my back was already gone by then and the whole process didn't do me any favours at all. I haven't had a dog since my little,(big) girl left us over ten years ago under horrifying memories.
Now I have a myriad of native animals who co-exist with Jade and I that wouldn't be possible if we had either a dog or a cat.

I loved your story that so obviously has an element of truth written in... as only someone who has loved, lost and kept their fury family close to them would write about with such a tender flavour.

Enjoyed reading you story... and even the memories it evoked in my own.

All the very best in this contest Wendy.
Know this contest title so well! Smile((((((((((((((.

With our thoughts we create...
close connections.

Kind regards,
James.

Hi James, what a beautiful, beautiful review, which almost brought me to tears. I am glad you have lots of native animals now to enjoy and appreciate. My story was all true, although I didn't hurt my back doing this - I hurt it carrying a bag of cement, but that wan't an interesting story. I greatly value the six beautiful stars, and I thank you for the honour. Thanks too for the good wishes.

It is always difficult to let a loved one go, the four-footed ones included.
You've done an excellent job with the contest prompt. I know you say there are some fictional elements, but it comes across as real.
Best of luck in the contest.

That's encouraging that it seems real. Most of it was non-fiction (I didn't really hurt my back, and I did help with the burial. I did drop her that last bit!) Many thanks for a super review, and for the good wishes.

Your story was very sweet. It was also a little sad, and kind of funny (but not funny) in places. I know what it's like to have a dog you can't forget. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you so much Jessi. Yes, it was sad and funny at the same time. And she was unforgettable.

Not meaning any disrespect to you, your husband, or your dearly beloved, I giggled all the way through the story. Your burial plan sort of made perfect sense, but the delivery was amusing.

Wow. I have two pups of my own, and I don't even want to think about them leaving me! However, I have to admit that that idea is pretty genius and sentimental, and other words I can't think of right now.

Thank you for sharing, and good luck in the contest!

Many thanks for such a lovely review. Her owners were going overseas, and couldn't take her. She was a rescue dog, and we struck gold with her. We knew we wouldn't have her long, so it was always in the back of my mind, but that doesn't help when it really happens

You gave her the best years left in her life, that's what really counts. Every rescue deserves a chance at life.

I'm sorry to hear your back went out. I have back pain due to medical conditions, so I know you were faced with challenges. At least, you were in the middle of a labor of love. Best wishes in the contest.

Since you told the story so delightfully, it has to be winner! At the edge of our woods, we buried a much beloved dog that had died. That night it was cold and rainy, and my husband, a true dog lover, woke me up to say he knew Missy must be cold. I assured him she was not in pain any longer.
