I think we all feel our home is our shelter. It's the place where I feel most comfortable and also safe.
Thanks so much for sharingh your lovely poem.

You were talking about moving. I'm glad you are staying with your old house and it's memories of the past. As long as you are able to look after yourself physically, there is no reason not to stay. A lick of paint by the next owner will fix it up. I have carers twice a week, staying where I am. Love, Kay xx

Aww this was so sweet! I think the wording could have been ever so slightly better. But other than that I love the story and it's clear your house is very meaningful to you! Great job, and I hope you get to stay in that house to the end of time

So good to hear from you, Jaybird. Houses aren't just wood and bricks but treasure chests of memories. My favorite line is 'I'll stay until my final days, where heart and memories belong.' Thank you for sharing your lovely poem.

Jaybird, after fifty years in the same home, I think you have won, and I hope you can fulfill your wishes. There is also good news found in a large number of your poems. Your precious memories have never died. Good job. Terry.

This is really beautiful Jaybird. There's no place like home. My mom felt the same way she passed when she was 89. Lived in her house until then. I thoroughly enjoy your poems. You truly are an inspiration to others you are an amazing poet.

Hi Jay, was missing you my sweet friend...
so good to see you...
I know how you feel about not moving...
I'm not crazy about change...and moving
is one I hate the most...you lose to many memories...
I will keep you in my prayers sweet guy...
asking God to let you stay in your house
you love so much...until He takes you home...
I love your poem...very well written...Love Linda xxoo

Beautiful poem, Jay. Such a treat to live in the same home for so long. You are a lucky man and I do pray your dream of living there until your final days will come true. As always, I appreciate the viewpoints you add to this site. Your willingness, not to mention your ability, to carry us along in your final chapter is such a blessing.

I have been in my house since 1978. It is the home my children, my grandchildren and even my great grand children know as home. They have no other place in their memory. Only my oldest daughter who is deceased would have memories of living elsewhere.

Such beautiful sentiments and appreciation for home and how it has been 'my comfort'- a profound sense of what home means to us all - and also the place holding memories and mementos of the 'things most precious in my life.'
