After you were kind enough to read mine, I looked you up and found this cute poem, and I can certainly sympathize, as I do the same thing. Writing poetry at 4:40 in the morning on small, bedside notepad, bleary-eyed, but ideas clicking away.
Of course, I'm glad to have the little devils, as I'm sure you are; ideas are ideas, after all.
Neat poem and format you used, too!

Hi Katharine,
Thank you for taking time to go back in my portolio and read this poem. Yes, got to love those little demons. What would we do without them? I appreciate your kind words and empathizing with the dilemma.

Hi Debi - I love it! Your poem is wonderful. And to think you followed such simple advice! I totally understand. There are times that I have thoughts that refuse to leave my head. Unfortunately, I don't have enough ambition to fire up the computer and type them in. On the good days, I manage to remember them and start writing in the morning. Those days are few and far between.
Thanks for making my day!

Hi Ed,
I didn't expect a review waiting for me this morning. You made my day with your response. It is nice to find someone who commiserates with being pestered by those thoughts that refuse to sleep. I appreciate you sharing your dilemma about getting up to turn on the computer or trying to remember in the morning.
Thank you so much for the shiny six stars to brighten my day as well. I appreciate you stopping by to read and review.

This poem, These Tortuous Little Demons, makes the creative process seem more like a scene from Alien when the creature, impregnated within the scientist, erupts from his chest like a jack-in-the-box.

Hi Bill Schott,
One of these days I'm going to have to see that movie. I've seen clips of the creature erupting from the scientist so I'm sure the impact will not be as intense since I know what to expect.
Thanks for you insights. I appreciate you stopping by to read and review.

I used to have that problem too, Debi, but the well went dry...However...I have some memory vitamins that may be working! I was trying to construct a Crossword Puzzle in my dreams last night. How about that? Do you think there is hope? LOL Nancy:)

-It must be the for silly poems,Debi.
-That is some kind of artwork and goes with your poem very well.
-A good presentation and question in your notes.
-A good topic, effective imagery, and rhyme with personification and dialogue.
-I really like the opening verses, and I can hear you saying those things.
-I like these lines:
"They spin, and shake, and churn, and seethe.
"We want to live; we want to breathe."
-A good ending to the poem, as well.
-A fun read for Sunday morning. Hope you had a good, restful sleep last night!

Hi Pam,
Thank you for the detailed review. It is always appreciated that you take such pains to analize a work--even a silly one like this. But we do need silly sometimes.
Thank you for pointing out the lines you liked best so I know what works.
For the most part, I sleep well. Once in a while those pesky thoughts get me to rise and jot them down, but not too often.
Thanks for enjoying and for your support.
Debi
Yes, I was lucky to find artwork that went with the theme.

You are very welcome, Debi, and I appreciate your reply. We do need silly at times. I just thought it was ironic that you had one, and I had the Toucan. It could have been a bigger parade!!!

I can only laugh. These matters keep me, and my poor husband, awake at night. I simply cannot go back to sleep unless I joy down my ideas, whether poetic or otherwise. Great meter and lovely colour choice. Best of luck. J
