Rather than repeat myself, I find writing short poems, as your last three, difficult for me to pen. I suspect I am more loquacious, therefore I tend to ramble on. I like all three and will copy this remark to the other two so you get credit for more reviews. Tom H

Oh my goodness, that is some story. You grabbed me emotionally. I feel like crying. We can't tell anyone what right and wrong is... However, this daughter was definitely in need of direction. Very sad.

Congratulations on 3rd place :)

Thank you for reading my short The Note story. Thank goodness it was all fiction. I would hate for something like that to truly happen. I appreciate your review and kind contest wishes. ~DDx

Hi DD,
This is such a sad story. If she had only read the letter sooner maybe she would have been able to reunite with her mother and say goodbye at her funeral. But we could hope that the doctors were wrong and her mother is still alive and this can still happen. I would think that someone would have told her that her mother had died.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Such a big story in a few words. An excellent dribble with depth, and the intrigue of what went before and what came after. Brilliantly structured. Nicely done.

Oh that is very sad .I hope it is not too late for the daughter to make up.
Sometimes we do not see what is behind other peoples faces .all the best for the contest.

Thank you, Sanku. I appreciate your review. Thankfully, this is a fictional flash dribble story otherwise I would be too upset if it was fact. ~DD

Well, it seems she waited too long to open the note from her mother, which contains some very bad news. It's anybody's guess how she reacted to that. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

After reading this short story with its heart-wrenching ending, a reader misses a breath or two as the contents of the note are read. Even though it is fiction, it grabs at the emotions of regret and guilt even if felt by a fictional character.
Well done.
Good luck in the contest.
Mary

Oh Wow? Personally, I find this sad and I'm hurting for the daughter-in-law how much pain she must feel. On the other hand, maybe it would depend on who the daughter is. I''eve seen it all. Your writing is competitive and thought-provoking, for sure!

Thank you, Alexandra, for taking the time to review my flash dribble. Yes, some daughters can be a hand full, but so can some mothers and so can the environment we all have to live in. Have a great weekend. ~DD

I imagine something similar to this has happened many times, which is sad. You've captured a very real moment in your 52 words. Good luck with this tough contest!

Well done with your dribble fiction story! You subtly added the eighteen months and twelve months to show us that a rash action done in anger could result in a lifetime of regret. I think this is a winner!
