This chapter reminded me that with less at our fingertips, we find more to do. I rarely said I was bored while growing up. If I said I was bored, my mom would give me a list of things to do. So, I would read. Took me places and showed me new and interesting places. Can't wait for your description of the creek. Gretchen

The dog in the picture looks like one that was my constant companion as a kid. I am wondering if you knew Dusty's parents, or what you know of them comes from what Dusty told you. A lot of your growing year sound sort of like where I grew up. I actually got hot brick wrapped in cloth for my feet on cold night like you did. The bedrooms were cold at night.

I was born in 1954. I don't remember what year it was when we got our first color TV, but I do remember it. Thank you for sharing this post with us. I am really enjoying reading.
Country doctor Phillip Gardner tended to Lois as her labor pains began. (I'm wondering, about 85% sure, doctor, should have a capital 'D'. It will be interesting what other reviewers say.)
